A goliath fish deserves a goliath picture.  :teeth:  Very nice fish.

if you think you caught something special like a personal best with out a scale you should next time take some measurements.

congrats on the catch.

Well, I know from what I catch that this was the biggest bass I've ever caught....lol.

Set your camera up in selfie mode and set a timer. Prop the camera against something, hold the bass up and get a decent pic! it's always tough to tell the size of fish from just holding them out like you did and snapping a pic. I'm only telling you this because for some reason it took me a long time to figure it out for myself and I let some PB's go with no pics.

Yea, it was late, and I was in a pretty confined area as it was. *shrug* Good advice though, appreciate it!

Oh well, it impressed the people I sent it to, and I was happy to snag it....lol

Congrats! Looks like a soild 3 pounder to me. :)

It always amazes me that know one thinks of cutting line the length and girth of the fish to measure later.

L X L X G / 1200 = weight in lbs.

Congrats on your PB!

Nice fish, man!  That's great that you've bettered your best so far!  It doesn't have to be a numbers game so don't worry about that stuff.  It sounds like you and I are on the same page.  We only compete against ourselves.  I know what it feels like to catch a size up from what you've gotten in the past and I envy you.  You got a good one!  Keep chasing that next epic fish!

Well said. I knew I'd be scoffed at a bit here with people pulling some whoppers out, but I fish maybe once a week if I'm lucky, so I'm not competing with anyone. If there is money on the line, or in a tournament, different story, but fishing on my local pond with a fat cigar and a cold beer, I got nobody to impress but myself, and my buddies...lol

Congrats on your PB! Beautiful color - did you apply a filter, or

is it really that green?

I added light to it., and upped the color a smidge. Here is the same picture with just the lighting added. 34249.jpeg

Yup.  There are some amazing fishermen on here and I'm here everyday trying to learn but I certainly can't compete with them.  And I'm jealous that you get to fish every week.  LOL  Keep up the good work.

Nice fish keep it up

No worries man just sharing the advice that I couldn't believe took me so long to figure out for myself! Nice fish too, now get ready for a 4lber and it will look surreal when you pull it outta the water.

I lost two fish prior to this one hopping off the hook when I got them on land and flopping into the water. I prayed to all that is holy for this one not to flop off either...lol. He was hooked well with two sets of trebles.

In future posts, you might refrain from saying that you “snagged” a fish. Snagging is when you throw a weighted treble hook and try to hook a fish not in the mouth but somewhere on its body. Intentionally snagging fish is generally illegal almost everywhere.  I know you didn’t snag your fish, but saying you snagged it doesn’t look good. ?

Updated to "landed"....thanks!

Nice fish! Looks like a nice 3lbs or a bit more! Nothing to scoff at for sure. Keep casting dude!

Congrats! At least you have the evidence because we all know anglers tell the tallest tales, lol.

The word snag carries a very negative connotation in the Pac NW also, but I knew what you meant.
