What line to use

Featured Replies

I just bought a Lews Mach 1 combo and I’m not sure what kind of line I should put on. It’s a 7 foot rod and I have a smaller pole that I use for soft plastics so I will mainly be using it for crank baits, top water, chatterbaits and other stuff like that

My favorite is Tatsu #12 .  Seaguar AbrazX is another good choice.

We need to know a little more info, details on the rod, what are you going to use it for. If this is your only rod, I would put 14#  mono on it.

12 lb copoly or mono. You don’t want fluorocarbon if you’ll be throwing topwater baits.

I'd use #12 to #14 mono or Co poly, namely, Trilene sensation, yo-zuri hybrid, or suffix siege.

12# Trilene BIG GAME. Tough as nails and very forgiving. Cheap as it gets. Doesn't have bad memory issues either.

If you are using it for topwater, you are going to want to go with mono. I'm fairly sure that this is a MH/F rod, so I would be going with 14lb mono and I would recommend Sufix Siege line because it's strong, abrasion resistant and has less memory than other mono I've used.
