Making Weedless Jigs

Featured Replies

I don't pour my own jig heads and really have no plans to do so. I am looking for jig heads to tie up a variety of jigs and want to put a weed guard on it. Where can I get bass jigs that are tapped for a weed guard and install it after I tie up the jig..??

Do a search for Boss jig heads.

We offer many styles, colors and weights.  Hooks we use are Owner, Trokar, Mustad Ultra Points.

Just curious why you'd rather not tie around a weed guard?  it can be a little fussy, but to me, seems easier than gluing guards in.

You are in the minority here. I find it a lot easier to tie without the weed guard in the way.

Sorry....I was unclear.  I agree it is much easier to tie without a weed guard.

I just meant that I would rather purchase jigs with weed guards and tie them -- over buying jigs without guards, tie them and then glue in guards.

Me and glue get along like Charlie Brown and scotch tape...I can do it...just not consistently well and don't enjoy it

Use the Super Glue GEL and you should have no problem.  Just put a tiny drop in the hole then insert the weedguard.

Check with Seibert Outdoors as he can best help you.  Weight, hook size, weedguard stiffness, etc. Seibert can set you up with whatever you need.

Siebert Outdoors sells whatever you need.

It sounds like you want a plain weedless jig with a fiber weed gaurd. Several jig makers offer plain jigs with or without weed gaurds and unpainted or painted. You need to specify the jig head type, jig weight and preferred hook type and mfr.

What do you mean by tie?
