Well looks like it's time to respool those reels and get the boat ready, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow. Only the 19th time he did not see it. Too bad he is only right 40% of the time. Got to go put another log on the fire.

I'm glad that crazy Pa. groundhog did not see his shadow. I am ready for spring to get out fishing again. I hope somebody shoots any groundhog that says otherwise.

Sees his shadow - another six weeks of winter

Doesn't see his shadow - spring is only six weeks away.

 

Since 'official' spring happens in six and a half weeks - Phil is just pointing out the calendar day no matter what happens. It's just a fun thing to replace the old holiday of Imbolc.

My girlfriends brother and sister in law went to see punxsutawney Phil last year and apparently it’s a great big party with tons of people arriving at like 3 am
