FLW being sold to MLF (rumor)

The rumors have been around for a month or two but seems to be ramping up. Could this be the feeder system for MLF/BPT? The timing does seem to be right with the start of the BPT.

Interesting to think about....

Everything I've read and heard is that it's already a done deal. Boyd's group has bought FLW.

It’s way more interesting than what is being speculated and assumed at this point ? Give it time - it will all come out eventually.

I messaged my buddy, who's a FLW Tour angler, about MFL buying FLW and he simply replied with "I thought that was their entire plan from the start."

So yeah.

What does this mean for FLW if they did?

I’m guessing that would be their feeder system.

BPT only took a couple guys from the FLW and FLW was pretty tight lipped when the whole BPT was announced, while BASS wasn’t as quiet. Coincidence? ?

Yes, I heard the same thing a few weeks ago.  It makes sense. They need a magazine and feeder system.  Plus the industry cannot support 3 major tours.

This is actually a good move for the industry, and for competitors.

Maybe that was one of the reasons why MLF didnt invite Scott Martin to join them at that time.

This may be relevant, maybe not. I knew that may FLW magazine subscription would be running out, and I had no plans of renewing. The FLW magazine couldn't hold a light to Bassmaster or Bass Angler, which are both excellent.

Anyway, here's the interesting part, FLW never sent me any type of renewal notice. I thought that it was weird, but thought nothing of it as I wasn't going to renew.

Makes good sense and seems like a good move for both groups. Assuming it does happen, I hope FLW can keep producing content without heavy oversight from MLF. I enjoy the goofy stuff Jody and Kyle put together.

maybe that's why david dudley seems to be pro mlf in his videos.

on a related note, i didnt care much for that cat from interviews i had seen over the years, but after watching some of his youtube he seems like a pretty alright dude.

I'm curious if the flw will keep the same format or go to mlf format?

Me too...crazy times!

Makes sense to keep the standard format for FLW and use the MLF format for the BPT.  Lots of guys still enjoy the standard format.  With Costas, BFLs the All American, Forrest Wood Cup, and TBF stuff it's pretty comprehensive.

So, does that settle the debate on which trail was the true "Elite" group?  BASS or FLW?

Was there ever even a real debate over that?

Yeah, that was never a debate worth debating.
