Best Texas Rig/Jig Rod and Reel for Under $100

Featured Replies

Hello everyone! I am trying to find a good Texas Rig/jig rod for under $100. Also, I would maybe buy a reel if it convinces me (also under $100). I would use it for open water casting, dragging football jigs, and other basic jig and Texas rig applications (no flipping and pitching). Thanks for the suggestions!

Get an Slx combo from ALF for $140, best bang for your buck within your budget.  Keep in mind if you sign up for their newsletter you get an additional 10% off.

Falcon Bucoo SR.  If you throw 3/8 and below, get a medium heavy.  If you throw 1/4-1/2 oz, get the heavy.  Superb rods but over budget by 10$.  If it were me, I'd find a way to cough up the extra $10.  Totally worth it.

I don't like to be the guy to say 'up your budget, ' but once you break that $100, you really do get a lot more rod for your $.

6'10 medium heavy tatula casting rod from sportamans outfitters. Gonna blow away a lot of the $100 rods. Fishes closer to the $200 price point

Dobyns Fury FR734C or 735 is a good choice but $120.

Was gonna make the same recommendation but couldn't find it on their website.

Changing my answer to what CroakHunter said.  I've owned 3 Tatula rods and they are well beyond the price tag.

And you've fished every rod on the market?

H2O XPRESS Ethos $69.99-99.99 ?

If you want a US made rod under $100, that's tough.  Falcon has the Jason Christie line, and I have a couple.  The 6'11 Heavy-Fast may be the best for this, although it's definitely heavy for 3/8 ounce and under jigs.  I like mine for Whopper Ploppers and frogs too, and for heavier jigs and T-rig.  I don't always bring it along, but I generally find a use for it when I do.

This one's a sleeper. Good rod for the money. The H20 mettle reels are good also
