Morgus the Magnificent

Featured Replies

We have a gentleman on our Forum who is using Morgus the Magnificent as his photo.

Here is Morgus the Magnificent from New Orleans back in the 60's. He hosted a horror movie show Saturday nights.

Did you have any funny or goofy local TV personality when you were growing up or at this time?

If so, let us know about it.

Here in Chicago, Svengoolie started back in 1970. Now he is on nationally on ME TV.

We also had Ray Rayner who did a morning show that was supposed to be for kids, but the parents liked it a lot too. Ray was also on Bozo's Circus as Oliver O Oliver which originated in Chicago.

I don't remember either.

I do remember Howdy Doody, Buffalo Bob and Clarabelle.

And another show where you put a piece of plastic on the TV screen and you followed a bug or dot and created a picture. But I think that was back in the 50's and before color TV productions.

we watched the Ghoul on Saturday nights, who hosted bad movies and did a lot of in-studio stuff. I think he was from ohio. Locally, we had Sir Graves Ghastly that basically did the same thing, but not as zany. 70's...?

The Bozo show was filmed in Chicago on WGN tv. I grew up watching it. The waiting list for tickets was 10 years. Couples would sign up for the waiting list when they got married and/or when they got pregnant in hopes they could someday take their kids to the show. Sometime in the late 70's early 80's, one of the WGN executives moved into the house directly behind us. My younger sister went to the show late 70's early 80's with tickets that were comped. Fast forward to the early to mid 90's, the guy still lived behind my parents house. My ex wife and I took our son to the show, on a weeks notice, with comped tickets. The ONLY thing I remember about the show was during the commercial breaks, the clowns would entertain the adults with jokes only they would understand.

Back in the 70’s we had Corky The Clown and Mr. Patches that hosted some local kids shows.

I remember Morgus and Chopsley, don’t forget Chopsley.

I would rather see Elvira or my personal favorite, Rhonda Shear of Up All Night fame

Considering she was 60 when that photo was taken...she's VERY well preserved.
