Ok now that I have baitcasters and what not I might be getting on the braided bandwagon. Thoughts on spiderwire? Walmart has their EZ Braid for $12.98 for 300 yards. Or what are your thoughts on Camo blue Stealth.  Gets a lot of good reviews. Supposedly it blends well in many water conditions. 

I personally have had nothing but bad experiences, with all of them.  Strange breakoffs, fraying, and wind knots.

 

Wal-Mart also sells power pro. It is a little more expensive, but a much better line. It is the only Wal-Mart braid I will use.

 

Im with Russ, had noting but problems with the line. Good quality is worth the $$..

Ok thanks. Since were on the topic I picked up some fluorocarbon today for my lighter ice rods. 4lb line. I bought seaguar. Any thoughts on seaguar brand lines? $19.99 for 200 yards. Or is Berkley vanish just as good for $10 for 300yards?

Vanish is widely despised on these forums and for good reason. Past formulas have been trash. Low knot strength, loose on the spool and random breaking are some of the problems experienced. I have no idea how the current line is as I won’t try it, once burned twice shy.

 

You did good with the Seaguar line. Don’t second guess yourself. 

In the past, years ago, spiderwire wasn't too bad. But now I wouldn't use it. Powerpro is one of the best out there for braid. 

I’ve never used fluorocarbon line before but wanted to try something that sinks faster for ice fishing. 

 

And i I think I’m going to try the power pro super slick for my next braid.

Braided line lasts a long time, almost forever with a leader. I HIGHLY recommend Seaguar

Smackdown. Tatsu is my choice for fluorocarbon, but for more affordable line I will suggest

AbrazX for baitcasters and InvizX for spinning tackle.

That abrazx might be the way to go. Especially when it’ll be rubbing on ice. The Smackdown sounds like a good on as well. Might have to look into it more. My local store only has Seaguar invizix

Just a quick note on the spiderwire EZ braid from my experience... I do have the 300yd spool in 20lb that I used for spinning setups all of last year. I honestly can't complain about it, I didn't have any problems with it that I don't have with power pro. I always use a fluoro or mono leader though, typically a fairly long leader FWIW. Couldn't speak to tying lures directly to it. 

 

Having said that I now use power pro exclusively, it feels smoother and sounds better coming back through the guides. I wouldn't hesitate to finish off my spool of spiderwire EZ braid in a pinch if I needed it though.

 

I personally wouldn't use it on a baitcaster if I had power pro as an option. 

Maybe I'm just not aware of how bad my braid is...I've used spiderwire stealth for many years on spinning and casting gear and have never had a problem with either. Actually prefer it to the power pro I've tried a cple times.  Apparently I'm in the minority but I have no plans to change

Spiderwire Stealth is currently what I use on my bass and saltwater set ups. 

Stealth is fine and I absolutely love Invisi-Braid, especially after the whiteish line takes on the dirty color of the water. I've been using Invisi-Braid since the dark ages it seems. I don't think it wears out either.

 

According to my bass mentor who turned me on to it long ago and still has some remnants of multi-thousand yard spools from back in the day, the 10-pound Invisi-Braid breaks at 22 pounds. 

 

That's all I know about Spiderwire.

If you mean Invizx, this is my favorite FC.  STAY AWAY FROM VANISH. BAM. 'NUFF Said.

I've had no problems with either Spiderwire or Berkley FC.
