What do you tend to throw after a downpour summer thunderstorm? 

T-rig craw, chatter, lipless, crank.

Swim jig or a crankbait depending on vegetation........

I'll throw a spinnerbait in the mix too. 

Same as I would if it were light rain. I make no distinction between the two. 

 

The only exception would be after a prolonged heavy rain that raises the water level, I MAY start shallower in areas not accessible before.

Rain often raised the oxygen level up shallow and draws fish in. Especially in the dog days of summer. A good hard downburst will often stir the baitfish up which causes the bass to move up as well. Then it's whatever reaction bait you're confidence is in. I'll speed up my presentation to test the waters before I commit to slowing down after a good rain. 

I'm still going to be targeting high percentage areas [ cover and structure] so my lure choice probably remains the same .

Exactly what I do

A little color in the water and a chatterbait go together real well. Add a breeze and all the better.

Those were my conditions yesterday. Caught a decent fish before conditions changed and one almost immediately after rainfall ended. Same soft plastic. Did have a few hits during the torrential rain but could not say what kind of fish hit. If I had it to do all over again I would thrown a couple of crankbaits. Would-a, could-a, should-a. Next time.  

My best results on my home lake has been flipping/pitching jigs BEHIND the weed line after a heavy rain and the far backs of the creeks.  Buzzbaits early but very shallow.

I almost always throw a black buzzbait during the rain unless there is too much wind 

Not sure where I heard it but have had quite a bit of success doing it

Kinda like throwing a spinnerbait on the windy shore line, it just works ....... sometimes
