Fletcher Shryock taking shots at BASS

Featured Replies

straight from his instagram post saying “i’d much rather run with a pack of wolves than lead a hurd of sheep. #majorleaguefishing”

what an AWFUL jab at B.A.S.S and terribly unprofessional way to announce a move to a different tour.

EDIT: this was not a new tour announcement (since he already fished MLF this past year, which i confused him with his brother). still a petty and unprofessional jab at BASS and anglers who are deciding to go back to the elites.

I looked up info - It's Shryock - and he's tossing digs at his own brother with that comment.

Someone to NOT follow.

fixed the title

Not a good look for him and some of the other BPT anglers in the comments.  Not exactly taking the high road.

When you make a comment like that you inevitably open yourself up for a direct comparison with the two guys leaving and many of the other 'sheep' at BASS...

It's sucks that it's come to this type of stuff.

definitely not what our sport needs. competition is always good, but when it’s taking shots at another publicly is where the sport will suffer.

He probably shouldn't have said it out loud (or typed it), but you can't say he isn't going to the place where the big dogs are fishing. He wants to compete against the best and there are obviously more of them in the BPT right now. I'm more disappointed that he doesn't know it is "herd" lol.

no one is denying that MLF has more of the big names but he shouldn’t have gone about it the way he did.

Probably not, but it's 2019 where these types of comments hurt peoples feelings. I would see it no different if a guy leaves Xfinity to move to the Monster series and says something along the same lines. But like I said, in this day and age, people are going to be offended no matter what.

He's not switching tours, he fished the BPT last year. Things are getting ugly in the professional fishing world. The FLW takeover isn't sitting well with a lot of people and a lot of sponsors, apparently. Swindle and Palaniuk are going back to BASS, Dudley and Thrift are taking their place on the BPT and several FLW guys are fishing the BASS Opens exclusively.

I expect to see more of this negativity from anglers in the coming year and it doesn't really benefit anyone.

Man, if he doesn't delete that fast he may have to answer to more people than just the public.  Stuff like that goes viral quickly.  As the owner of a small business if someone I sponsored acted, or posted something like that, I'd be livid.  As a parent I'd have issue with my kids saying that.  Even if it's how you truly feel, you have time before hitting the send button to read and review.  Image is everything to these guys.  This does nothing to boost his image in anyone's eyes.

He also put it up on his Facebook - and once it's on the 'net, it's forever...thank you Internet Archive.

There are a lot of wolves in MLF.  The problem is the wolves are having a contest to see who can catch the most mice.  A couple of the wolves figured out that they are better at catching big game, so they decided to go back to hunting elk and deer.

But who has the momentum going into 2020 and the future?  I think MLF has most of it.  There's nothing wrong with a little bad blood in fishing anyway to spice things up a bit.

Fletcher coudnt keep up with the wolves  in the Elites .

It is interesting when a person has their self esteem determined by the group they hang out with.  It's like the 3rd string QB who believes he is a great football player because his teammates won the Super Bowl.

Why is it always the people in the back of the group who are the most mouthy...?

Im pretty sure he never won a elite event so I dont know why he would even consider saying that.

I've never heard of him.

He's just trying to get Boyd's affection

It is that business law that says: if there is a boss then there will be an employee trying to kiss his *** asterisk

The kid can fish, but comments like that will hurt his $$$ game in the long run.

BASS Stats:

Started in 2011 at the OPENS level, left to go to MLF in 2019

78 Career Events (includes Opens)

1 win at a Central open

33 times in the money

Total money from BASS: $341,759

When i read post that mlf has the momentum and how boyd is some rich powerful player that bass cannot compete with I almost fall over laughing.  Do your research people.

Mlf has nothing that compares to the classic.  Bass is top knotch with live coverage which is the future not some 2 bit cable channel.

Mlf just bought flw which from what I heard was bleeding money to begin with,   They will have their hands full just surviving this purchase imo.  Def no momentum there.

And I think people better google anderson media group and realize there net worth is right up there with johnny morris.

Boyd has done well by himself but google his net worth and you decide if he can push Anderson media around.

It seems the majority of anglers haven't let where they fish affect any friendships.  I've seen many BASS, MLF and FLW guys on youtube, twitter ...... supporting each other and fun fishing with each other.  It seems fans are bothered a lot more than the anglers. Just saw that Ott Defoe will be at Brandon Card's high school and college events.  It seems like there are way more good guys out there than not.  It's all fishing. Relax and enjoy.

Lol, nobody said any of those things.

I'm pretty sure most everyone agrees that Boyd and the MLF group come off looking pretty slimy over how all of this has been handled but that's business. BASS isn't going anywhere but neither is MLF.

Hell ...Before I form an opinion, I'm still trying to make sense of the comment! My guess is, that he thinks the BPT is the pack of wolves that he is running with ....... not sure who is is referring to as being the leader, and who the sheep are that are being led! ..... For now, and since I am unsure, I will just shorten it a bit, and just go with " I would rather run than lead!'
