Tackle organization

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I've been fishing in several team tournaments and was wondering how do you guys organize your tackle for when you're on someone else's boat?

I have a bag plum full of things to bring but I don't really feel like im organized enough and I tend to leave stuff at home. I usually have 5 tackle storage boxes (jigs, hooks, sinkers,  cranks, and whatever they're biting on that time of the year), gallon bag with my plastic and plus my weigh in bag.

I like having everything labeled, so I always know what I have in my bag. I have a majority of my tackle in this tackle bag. I can use my side pouches for plastics that I have the most confidence with. I also have these bags I can put my spinnerbaits/buzzbaits which are small and easy to haul with my bag.IMG_0330.JPGIMG_0333.JPGIMG_0331.JPG

find a duffel bag that holds 4ish hardbait 3700s, and 2 double deep open core containers for plastics, and room for one more 3700 for terminal tackle. imo, this is the right amount of stuff and perfect size. Throw everything else you might need into a backpack and call it a day. maybe look for a duffel with side pockets for tools, otherwise backpack is fine.

this way you'll have tackle in oe hand, rods in the other and a backpack with all your clothes snacks water tools etc.

look for a bag with inside dimensions of at least 14" x 10" x 18" (9x 3700 boxes)

Use the same duffel setup, plenty of room for stuff that never gets thrown during the day but makes me feel better when leaving the ramp. Plenty of room for your weigh bag, rod sleeves ect.

what specific one do you use? I don't actually use one, but if I were to be a conger more often thats exactly what id use

Its like a red under armor bag I got for family vacations in the 5th grade. Just so happened to be able to fit everything perfectly. Ill post a picture of it when I get a hold of it. Lives under the deck of the boat now.

I have a large bag (6) and medium (4) for 3700 boxes with a lot of extra pockets. I have about 20 3700 boxes labeled and swap them in and out as needed from my boat. I keep the plastics in the side pockets or a speed bag.

3-5 3700s of tackle that i need. Typically 2-3 gallon bags of plastics or 10 packs that i hand pick. Usually 3-5 rods. All depends of the lake im fishing and talking to the boater on a plan of attack on how we will fish

Much like swhit I do the labels thing on my Plano boxes and Rubbermaid containers.

The ZipLoc gallon bags have really worked great for many years for deck stuff. Assorted plastics, assorted terminal tackle. Keeps things from Blowing if you move to a different spot.

I just picked up two of the Bass Mafia Money Bags to use this season. They are heavy duty. I think they are gonna work out ok. BUT I really don’t think they are that superior. I just had to try them.
