When do you take hard baits out of their package?

Featured Replies

Unfortunately for me, I don't have the luxury of buying baits for stocking up like some of my buddies. I have buddies with boxes of certain baits unopened. Some have walls dedicated in their garage like a tackle store. Given I understand some of them look for sales and deals and buy knowing they're going to need/order some in the future. I have quite a bit of baits and several units of the ones I find useful, but not a surplus. I buy as I go or stock my boat with baits I'm low on or are likely to loose and need an extra on the water. So to answer the question, they  get shipped in and I pull them out of the package and put them in the labeled tackle box.

  • Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~  I tried doing it in the store a few times but apparently that's frowned upon. So now I wait until I get in the truck ~  A-Jay

I take mine out of the package as soon as I get them home, they go straight into the tackle trays that are labeled for that style bait!

  • I never leave them in the original packaging. I take them out and put them in the appropriate Plano utility boxes where all my baits are kept until I load up a tackle box with only the baits I’m going

I wait to remove the bait until I know i'm out of camera view and the clerks are in another aisle.

You are a bad man, lol.

I wait until they are ready to go into rotation as a starter  or backup.

I normally open that package and put them into my tackle bag. But this winter I bought some extras for baits that I normally lose, and I threw those along with the original package in an open compartment double deep 3700 box and threw that into my fishing cabinet.
