Will this work?

Can I throw jerk baits on a MH crankbait rod such as the Dobyns 705CB. What is your opinion? Have very limited space in my boat for a variety of setups.

Of course. From Dobyns: PRIMARY TECHNIQUES: Crankbaits / Jerkbaits / Lipless Rattlebatis / LV500 / Sammys / Staycee 90

Several years ago I fished jerkbait on a glass cranking rod (Lamiglas 705R),

I switched to graphite because while the stick certainly casted the bait well, the 'softer' blank seemed to absorb the majority of 'the action' I was imparting to the bait.

Required quite a bit more angler input as compared to a graphite blank.

Added up over the course of a day.

You certainly can!  That is one of the techniques it is made for!

Yes it will do the job.PerryReservoirKansas_(3).JPG

Thanks  for your input. Will the same rod work for top water such as buzz baits and walking baits?

I do not have that rod, but I do use  a  7' MH fast tip for those baits.

I can't believe everyone here is encouraging him like this is a good idea!

If you aren't using a MegaBass Destroyer paired with a Metanium DC I highly doubt this will work ...

I have the 685cb which is the slightly shorter version of the 705cb.  When I called Dobyns last Fall before buying, they said Gary uses the 705cb himself for jerkbaits.  Either will work, depends on your preference for rod tip clearance.

The Dobyn Fury 705CB is made for Crankbaits / Jerkbaits / Lipless Rattlebaits / LV500 / Sammys / Staycee 90. Basically made for certain techniques listed. I would go towards a 704C or 734C for buzzbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits if you are planning to use Dobyns models.
