Pretty straightforward what oil and grease do you use for baitcasters?

I'm can't remember what oil I have currently since it is missing the label, but using Cal's universal grease. I think a lot of people like TSI-321 synthetic oil.

Gears - Cals Tan

Drag - Cals Tan

Non-spool bearings - TSI321

Pinion Bearing - Yamaha Marine Grease

Spool bearings - TSI321 cut with 99% alcohol

Sliding/moving parts - Yamaha Marine Grease

Brake drum - Bantam oil

Bearings....Shimano oil

Gears.........Ardent reel butter

Cals grease. CorrosionX. ReelX. Penn Grease. Penn Oil.

I go through a lot of oil. I find minimal differences with anything other than these oils. Halfway through most days out, most of my oil is gone. So I add oil before every outing.

I've got a bottle of the Abu Garcia precision oil with the small metal applicator tip...is this sufficient for oil? Or should I get something else?

Abu precision oil and precision grease are great. I'm not saying that they're better than something else, I'm just saying that they get the job done as well as anything else.

Personally, I use TSI321 and the ABU precision grease. I have Cal's for drags if I think I need it.    jj

Perfect...guess I will just go with Abu oil and grease...should match up good with the Abu reel! Reading through all the old posts today was pretty overwhelming...a million different oils and grease getting suggested...one thing I saw that eased my mind was DVT saying something like don't get hung up on the brands of reel lube products...the most important thing is get everything clean then lube correctly

Guess I should have just asked if anybody used the Abu stuff since that's what I have..but I sure appreciate all the replies anyhow

That’s right. Your products will work fine. Main thing is to apply them to clean parts.

I started using Abu grease and oil with my old Ambassadeur 40 or so years ago. Haven't seen a need to switch brands even though I'm using Pflueger and Diawa reels now.

I've had great results using Mobil 1 0W/20 in a needle oiler. I also use it on guns, hinges, and the Mrs' car.

Fifteen cents an ounce isn't too bad either.

I keep it pretty simple. Gears, friction areas, and the drag get Cal's grease. Bearings get Boca Lightning oil, and the worm shaft I use Quantum hot sauce cause it's a thicker oil and stays on better but doesn't build up crud as much as grease.

Ah, one of my favorite subjects.

Cal's on drags and gears

Yellow Rocket Fuel on the ABEC SS spool bearings

Hedgehog Alchemy oil for my ZR high speed SS half open spool bearings

ReelX on worm gears

Pinion, drive shaft, X-ship bearings  dipped in TSI 301 at annual reel cleaning

I used to do TSI on pinion bearing as well until I read this

made sense to me so I switched to grease for that bearing and it really made a difference in feel.
