Your Current Top Water Line ?

Featured Replies

Usually 12 lb Stren Original for topwater plugs with casting gear except the Whopper Plopper and SK Mega Dog.  I use 50 lb Power Pro for those.  On my spinning rods, I'll tie a 8-10 lb Stren Original leader onto the 15 lb braid (Power Pro or Tuf Line 4orce yellow) for the really small torpedo baits and Zara Puppy.

Trilene XL. 8 # on my spinning rod and 12 # on my baitcaster.

If I don’t have my dedicated topwater reels mounted, I’ll use whatever I have with me, be it braid or Yozuri Hybrid.

Very rarely will I use fluorocarbon for topwater baits.

I sold my topwater reel spooled with 15# Big Game and swapped out an extra reel freshly spooled with 20# Power Pro.

I don't like leaders and have never used braid for topwater. I'm too cheap to take the braid off the reel so I'm going to give it a shot. I hope it works.

I have been using 12lb Sufix Siege for poppers and buzzbaits and 65lb braid for frogs.

Usually braid to a mono leader to give it some stretch and help the line from getting around the hooks on walking baits and poppers, but I will also sometimes throw straight braid on lures like whopper ploppers or buzz baits.

20lb. braid, no leader.

Same.

Only topwaters I don't use braid for are buzzbaits and baits with front props. Everything else is straight braid, 20 for treble hook baits, 50 for frogs and toads.
