Just wondering if anyone has had this happen before, if it was intended or a mistake. Just got in an order of baits and line from TW. Not a huge order like I know some of you place, by any means, but not small--about $95; I've ordered from them 3 or 4 times and this was the largest order I have placed with them. In addition to everything I had ordered, the box had a couple of extra items in it--a Storm Wiggle Wart crankbait, and a package of Neko weights. I was just wondering if they throw in bonuses with orders, or if this was an oops?

Generally it's stickers, but sometimes hats and tee shirts.

How long did it take for them to get you your order?

 

I received a TW order a couple days ago..No extras for me..They even sent the wrong color buzzbait I ordered..First time that's ever happened after over 10 years of gettin stuff from them.

Seemed like it was pretty fast. I ordered late Wednesday night, order was shipped Thursday and arrived on Monday.

Not an answer to your question, but does TW really save you money on purchases or is it that they carry lures that others don't.  Just curious since I have never used them, but do go to their website and look at gear all the time.

With the big sales, I've definitely saved money. However there are some lures where the color selection at TW is below the bar. Example is Rapala Originals where they only carry 7 of the 24 available colors. I get my Rapalas from FishUSA, who does carry most if not all the Rapala color selections across the entire Rapala line.

I would say overall TW has comparable or better prices to all of the typical places you would get tackle like Dicks/F&S/BPS.  If you wait to get your supplies until one of the sales like Memorial Day or Thanksgiving, then its substantially cheaper.  Also the selection is significantly more broad both in terms of number of lures and colors within that lure than most other places that carry fishing gear.  They will definitely carry more high end rods/reels than most of the stores will, as well as more "exotic" lures like MB and Lucky Craft, etc.  

 

Does TW save me money?  Heck no, they cost me a heck of a lot of money because I buy way more gear than if the local places were my only options!  But thats part of the fun.

I have not gotten free fishing products, just a sticker if you add it to the order or a shirt if you are over a specific $ amount and add it to the order. 

 

Main reason I shop with them is because they have had good prices, carry/stock things others don't and normally ship quick for cheap (2-day $5). 

 

I did notice their prices on Loomis rods is now more then other places so I have been looking at other places for those specifically.

I got on board with TW when it was free ground shipping over $50 and no sales tax, so that was a big perk.  They do charge sales tax now (speaking for PA) but are pretty reasonable with prices and selection.  Backordered items and "item found damaged" has been my only hang up, but the customer service team is easy to reach and usually helpful.  They are also good on returns.  Recieved a factory defect reel and they replaced it for me quickly (they provide return shipping labels).  Much better than going through the process with the manufacturer.

 

If it's stuff you would be buying anyway, and you're strategic, you can save.  In the past they have offered 10% off gift cards around Christmas.  Use those during another sale (if you have the patience) and it's a bargain.  

 

That's my experience.  I try to shop smart, but they probably get 80% of my business.  

 

@plawren53202 sounds like it was an oops, unless it was a promo deal.  I've got sample packs of stuff before.  Mustad just included one when I bought some triple grips over the holidays.  Nice surprise.   Hopefully the person who was supposed to get the items you received got their complete order ??

That's my guess. The bummer is that the Wiggle Wart that was included is really nice but I'll probably never use it; it is a deep diver and I only fish from the bank so not much use for a deep diver. The Niko weights, I've never used them either but they are the ones with a skirt attached, and I do fish a wacky worm all the time, so I'll probably give them a try. Too bad the person who accidentally put the Wiggle Wart in didn't accidentally put a Jackhammer in instead.?

They are competitive with their prices and are hard to beat when you get free shipping.  Myself and two others always go together on tackle orders to make sure we get free shipping.

I placed a big order a while back and forgot to add a free shirt.  Placed a smaller order a few weeks ago that didn't qualify for a shirt but then emailed them to ask for one.

 

They sent me a shirt.

 

I can put 20 in the truck and get a subpar selection at BPS or order from TW and pay for 5 dollar shipping and often get the things I need before I can make a run to BPS.

 

TW for the win.

Oops @plawren53202! the new guy is working as though it’s Christmas 

I got a long sleeved t-shirt from them for 5 bucks as one of their add on. Hard to beat a 5 dollar LS T Shirt.

 

I love TW's free or almost free stuff.

They are about all I use. I have not found better. I feel they are more geared toward largemouth bass. Which is fine. 
 

I do still buy from a mom and pop shop near home since I was a kid (most m & p’s are gone now) that I can get my Smallie and fly fishing stuff from. 
 

Their holiday type sales can’t be touched by anyone else. 
 

Personally I feel BPS fell off the wagon when they start pushing their own branded stuff and are not full line dealer of name brands they do carry. Just my opinion. To each his own.
