Hi there

Featured Replies

I've asked a few questions here so far and gotten some great answers so I figure I might as well introduce myself.

I've been into fishing for going on 9 years now but have focused more on bass fishing the last four, and especially so the last two. I live in south eastern Wisconsin and fish mostly the banks of the ponds in my neighborhood due to my lack of a boat. I go to school in New York and unfortunately lose a lot of my summer fishing time to training so I don't always get out as much as I would like. These past school years I've been flying out so I miss the fall bite there too due to the difficulty of flying with my fishing gear. Fortunately, this coming school year I will be allowed to bring my truck on post and will be bringing my fishing gear with me. So if anyone has any good fishing spots in the West Point area that are bank fisherman friendly, I would greatly appreciate your insight.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Welcome....

In 1972 I had the pleasure of spending a week at the West Point Military Academy. One day I took a walk down to the bank of the Hudson River. Posted about every ten feet along the path were signs that said "don't touch the water". That was a long time ago. I'm hoping they've cleaned it up a bit since then.

Living in Maine and having a daughter in the Albany area I can tell you that there are tons of lakes. They were formed by glacial retreat long ago. New England states and the northeast are riddled with them. Many of them quite large. And for a ride.... lake Champlain is straight north of you but about 250 miles. It's huge and even though I haven't fished there I have camped and seen lots of fish being pulled out of it. A shorter trip might be over the boarder to VT and over that border to NH... lots of stuff there too.
