Big Bite baits yo mama and creature

Featured Replies

Was sitting around the house bored and came across these baits on Amazon in 100 packs for a pretty good price so I went ahead and bought them. Got the 4inch yo momma in talipia color and the 4inch creature in watermelon red Flake.

Anyone have experience with these baits? Tips and tricks appreciated. Was thinking of texas rigging these with a 1/4oz tungsten weight in shallow water under 10ft.

I ordered 2 of the 100 packs a cple months ago myself.  I'm sure they're great i just haven't used the 4 inch yet. Have had some luck with the 3 or 3.5 inch yo mama in the back of a jig. Im sure they're as effective as most other beavers or creatures

I use the 4" Yo Mama in green pumpkin and have had good success with them texas rigged with a 3/16 or 1/4 oz. I still prefer a sweet beaver, just a confidence thing I think, but for the price they are hard to beat.

I use the 4" in black blue flake. I use it on a swinging jig head with great results.

I love the creature...every bit as good as a brush hog in my opinion.

Are they yo momas sort of that dead action bait as in the flappers don't give off a lot of action like the sweet beaver? Searched YouTube but couldn't find anything.

The Yomoma has that kind of gliding action like most beaver baits do. I have a 100pk and several of the smaller packs of them in my boat and a few of the 25pks of the creatures. Couldn't tell you how many fish I caught on the Yomomas the last few years since I started fishing them, but it's been a lot. I know I've won a few tournaments mostly off just them.

Beaver style baits are fairly new to me. When you fish them do you tend to leave the claws together or separate them? Are you working them to imitate a craw?

Thanks in advance.

When I think of creature baits I become tunnel vision to Yamamoto, been throwing them for years a long with Brush hogs.

Many rigging options but I only use 2......T-rig or Shakey head 3/16 - 1/4.

You can see the similarities, creature on the right, hog on left.20200517_084018.thumb.jpg.00a963c6f37db5102a679f425ecb4203.jpg

Separate them. I fish them mainly to imitate a craw but whatever a fish wants to think, as long as they think they're food. I usually fish mine with a 4/0 EWG hook and a 1/4oz bullet weight.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I separate them 90% of the time. The only time I don't is if I am fishing them in cold water, say less than 50 degrees and I don't normally throw them unless it is late fall early winter and the water has got cold and I still want to throw a soft plastic in the backs of creeks or something. It may not make a hill of beans to the fish, but it is just something I do.

I like the yo mama as a jig trailer. Have had great success with June bug on a black or black and blue jig

3" YoMama is a fantastic finesse jig trailer, so the 4" would be great for a full size jig trailer. They are great T rigged too.

Great baits. Those and Yum Wooly Bugger are my two faves and very reasonably priced.

Assuming you're talking about the 4"?

Anybody know what size EWG fits best in the smaller 3" Yomama?

I checked on Amazon for a 100 pack in 3" green pumpkin, and they had it for $21 for the last bag.

I should be set with these for quite a while. Great bargain on a great bait.T rigging them with a 3/16-1/4oz pegged weight catches tons of fish. I recently started catching some nice 5-6lb Chanel cats while bass fishing on them at a farm pond I sometimes fish. These have agreat action in the water.

Never tried the creature bait.

Fish both big bite baits lures, they have a great color selection and are reasonable in price. They tend to be one of the tougher plastics for holding up as well. Krets Kreatures were always my favorite so when they discontinued I bought heavy and have several years supply. Brush hog style isn't quite as popular with me.....you tend to use what you have success and confidance with.

I know this is an old thread but wondering what size hook you guys use on the smaller of the yomama?  Thinking about using them as a flipping bait next year and try to stay around 3-3.5 inch baits here in Ohio, since half the fish are around that size anyways!  Haha

I have been using a 4/0 EWG hook with the 4in. I would say a 1/0 EWG would probably work on the smaller version. I had good luck with them this summer, caught a few big ones on them. Glad I bought them.

The creature bait is my favorite, but sometimes they just want less action and that's where the yo mama delivers. I have become a big fan of big bite baits and will order them again, once my ten year supply runs low :) ended up buying 200 creature baits, 100 yo mama's, and 100 4in and 6in finesse worms from them. Still prefer the BPS stick-o, which I always buy in bulk as well. Great way to save some money in the long run. I keep them in rubber maid sealed Tupperware containers, the scent stays inside and they lay flat for long term storage.

The sweet beaver and yo mama baits in 3-4” form make great jig trailers for skipping applications.

The flatness and high density are great for long skips. I’d say the tungsten arky style jig head with the beaver bait trailer is probably the best skipper out there. I can get those really long skips where it’s  like the bait is walking constantly on the surface very consistently with this setup.

A 2/0 EWG should get the job done.
