This September I will turn the big 6-0. I have lures in my 1970’s Flambeau tacklebox that are 40-45 years old, including this plastic worm. 
 

 

Any idea what brand/make of plastic worm this? All I know is that it actually caught a bass today!

 

I think Mann's Augertail. In motor oil color.

It may be. I know I have other “just as old” Tom Mann jelly worms. I probably bought these when I was 18-20 years old. I guess they last forever! 

Augertail knockoff. Mann’s Augertail had the same basic end shape as their Jellyworm, not that defined, pointed “spear”

Could be. It’s been so long since I bought them, it could be from a company out of business over 25-30 years ago. But what the heck! All that time in a tacklebox and finally it catches a fish! 

They were a favorite of mine back in the day. Still have a couple packs laying around. Pretty sure Mann’s also imprinted their name into all their worms in some fashion - I’ll have to look. Segments don’t look right either for a Mann’s.

My last few “old” jelly worms have “Mann” imprinted on them. Which does make it appear these are some sort of knock-off.

I think your correct. The true augertail had MANNS, on one segment. This one is an augertail knockoff

Looks like a Mann's Augertail until you get to the end? Mann's has a tear drop shape and I think the tail is a little longer. I have no idea what that worm is but good luck in your search.

Well, the important thing is...it caught a bass! I’d love to discover exactly what it is, but if I can’t, at least I know they work! 

Not an augertail but close .

 

  I have a pack of Augertails and a pack of Augertail Snakes . I'm tempted to open those snakes and use them but I  dont recall seeing them before . 

Yup, definitely not quite an Augertail.

I didn't know Manns Baits still made the Augertail. This thread made me look for them, still made.

There are probably a lot of lures made most don’t know about as new ones have become the flavor of the day lol.
