Chartruese belly frog?

Featured Replies

Other than the Tim Little/ Matt Allen colored frog is there any other bright chartreuse bellied frogs available? Chartreuse belly outdid the natural brown frog today 2 to 1. Would love to have chartruese In popping frog.

Check out the Jackal Iobee frog, the brown, chartreuse and green all have chartreuse bellies.

Something must be going on with the Jackall IoBee its not in stock at any of the usual places and on eBay it's priced 3 times the usual.

i use my daughters yellow or orange pen marker and color the bottom top half of my frogs.

The "Zoom Hollow Body" offers a color they call “Leopard” that appears to have chartreuse on the belly.

I've never owned one, so can’t say for sure.

Chartreuse gets no love it seems like, I throw it more than all the other colors combined. I have found some other frogs with a real chartreuse belly but none as good as the little allen bullywa2, such a good frog.

Booyah makes one. Both regular and popping. Look for "Popping Pad Crasher".

Booyah is almost always the answer if the question has anything to do with frog fishing.

Just FYI, bass see yellow chartreuse as white, so something with a white belly may work just as well.

1st time I have heard this, what's your source?

I don't know whether they see chartreuse "as" white, but the study referenced in this article suggests they may have trouble accurately distinguishing between the two colors.

That said, I wouldn't be too quick to discount the real-world fishing experience of anglers as to what puts fish in the boat.

I just read an article by Dr. Hal Schramm in the In-Fisherman 2020 Bass Guide.  There is a cool little chart in the article that shows how we see certain colors compared to how bass probably see them.  I am not sure if there is a digital version of the article.  If I remember, I will take a picture of the chart and post it when I get home from work.

Teckel has a Lemon/Lime color in a couple of styles, lime green heads with all chartreuse bodies.

ScumFrog has one that is entirely chartreuse.

I can vouch for the ones I have had over the years, bruising plenty of faces.

Man still lacks the ability to see colors thru the eyes of bass.

But we do know which colors enhance or degrade contrast,

and we're able to imitate the colors of predominate prey (all we need to know).

When bass look upward, they only see the underside of the animal.

For the most part, the undersides of animals appear in various shades

of White, Gray & Yellow. Not surprisingly, white & cartreuse (yellow)

are the most popular colors for spinnerbaits and frog bellies.

Interesting read, thanks

Use Spike it or JJ's.

I had the same thought as others with Spike It/JJs. I recently got the set of Spike It markers and have been surprised at how well they color baits (I was picturing something that would wipe or wash off easily, not at all the case). It would be real easy to take the chartreuse marker and color up a white belly frog.

This industry is rife with maybes, "I think sos" and even total malarkey (mainly from mfgs). Nice to see a referenced study or two. I'll take two scientific studies over a years worth of dock talk, especially since dock talk is rarely consistent. Then again studies can be flawed as well.

I just love fishing.

I will set a reminder to take that picture and post it.

Here is the chart.  BTW, anyone who doesn't read In-Fisherman is missing out on some seriously good, science-based observations and methods for catching fish.  They feature multiple species, but they always have something about bass in each edition.
