Thanks for the link. It looks like they’re sold out of the RH reels. I’ll be checking back though.

You any relation to my wife?  She would also say the price was $69 even tho it is only a penny below $70. 

 

And, yes, I realize you didn't say it cost $69, but then I wouldn't have been able to make my comment if I didn't ignore what you actually said.    In my mind $69.99 is $70.

I did see that. I watch looking at spending about $80-85 on the Fuego until the Sportsman link, then I saw the Tatula 200 for $100! Life is full of difficult decisions. Lol

True, but with heavier baits that really doesn't matter.  My brother, who's a Tranx fanatic, just ordered the 300 because of how much he likes the 200.

Well I was hunting for a deal on the Fuego to no avail, then I came across what seems like a decent deal on the Tatula CT. Midway USA has them for $89, so I picked one up. The only downfall is the estimated delivery date is Aug. 17. I’ve never ordered from Midway so I don’t know if it’ll get here quick. I really didn’t need the reel, so I suppose I can wait if it does indeed take that long.

Those reels don't have Magforce Z just so you know.  The spool is too deep to support it.  

 

Avoid the Tatula 200. This non-Magforce Z spool reel is very hard to control. I ended up purchasing an expensive replacement spool (with lower line capacity) from Japan - with Mag Z - to make the real usable. Overruns were just awful. And I'm very good with baitcasters. Don't even own a spinning reel. I'm a dedicated baitcast guy.

 

(You can see in the pic attached how narrow the spool shaft is. Spool can not accommodate mag z mechanics)

I've been using my 200 for throwing 2 oz. 6" swimbaits without any problems, but I haven't tried lighter baits so far.

 

If you're hooked on Daiwa, why wouldn't you consider the BG 2500 over the Fuego CT-HS?

I took a chance with North40, tracking info says this coming Tuesday. They even throw in a North40 decal! 88.99 TMD.

That’s awesome for you! I’ve never heard of North40, I wish I had. I will develop patience, I’m still waiting on a TW purchase from a week ago.

All true with light baits and flick casting, but why would you use a deep spool big bait reel, which the 200 is, and use it for those techniques? It's been flawless with 1-4 oz baits. A pleasure. And believe me, you can bomb those baits without issue.

I didn’t take it that way. I must have overlooked the mention of it earlier in the thread. No big deal. I didn’t need this reel, so I suppose I can wait on it.

You don’t need any of that when throwing several ounces. That bait is already coming out hot. You’re mostly getting out of the rod’s way to deliver a full, accelerating, forward stroke.

Exactly. Most of the nuances of an artful casting stroke, from the elbows to the wrists, used with baits under an ounce are not present when slinging big baits. It's more of a planted foot, hips, shoulders, then arms cast. Like a straight punch. Even 2 ozs on the end of 8 foot stick requires a bit of muscle, unless you're Andre the Giant.

My Fuego CT arrived today, on time, from North40. And as promised it came with a crankbait (Evergreen WH-3 in fire craw) and a spool of J-braid x4 40lb.

 

88.00 Bucks not to shabby at all.
