I have a small collection of Heddon Tiny Torpedo lures.  I am thinking about adding to my collection as a hobby.  Does anyone know how many different colors and patterns these lures were made in?   There seems to be hundreds if not thousands.

This is one of those lures that i throw every so often despite never having any success with it. They sure are purdy though!

Did a quick look at lurenet where the tiny torpedo is sold ... counted 14 colors ... been around a long time so there are more than likely more than that ... 

 

I still use them when I get the opportunity to do some marsh fishing ... the clear one is deadly ...

I have had these lures for some time.  The Tiny Torpedo is one of the most popular Heddon lures and are still being made today.  They are cheap and fairly common.  With all the versions available, I think it would be fun to try to collect them all.  I have too much time on my hands.  ?

They have been in production (Heddon Torpedo) not sure of the Tiny, since the mid 20's.  

I wonder if the folks at the Heddon Museum might have some information on old colors?

Be sure to post their reply.  I know there's lots of colors, but I use two.  The clear as stated and the frog color.  The Torpedo is a go to in quiet still water.  I use the small one inch version in that case.

 

Good luck on your collection, you should be able to get quite a variety.

The "regular" is actually the baby torpedo. They also in addition to it and the tiny, they make (or made) a teeny. Much like the One Minus, the smaller version became the standard size somewhere along the line. Who has a full size One Minus?

And I think there is a magnum torpedo.

Yes, the Magnum is the full sized one. Colors? I own probably 20, wife likes them, and I give them to me, I mean her as presents...  

Not sure when they stopped making the One Minus. There are a couple of good knockoffs still being made. 

 

I just looked it up, and the 1 Minus is available (or at least offered), as well as a Mid sized one.

52 colors?  This lure has been around so long, I'm not surprised.  EBay makes collecting a lot easier.  Wonder what the rarest color is?

I love fishing those things. I just twitch them back with good pauses in between. Likely my most successful top water lure. 

 

Ebay always has a good supply of old Heddon lures. That's where I buy Dying Flutters now if I need them because they are discontinued, but ebay prices for them are pretty reasonable as the new-ish ones aren't collectible yet. 

Santee-Cooper 8+ caught from the back of my boat on a Tiny Torpedo.  This guy George even had a special rod he used only for the little lures - a 7-6 Ugly Stik.
