Guys I know it is stupid question but here it is, I just purchase new dobyns908 for my extra heavy swimsuits, and now I can not open the tip protector. see it in the pictures, it is not coming off, I don't know what to do.

should pull right off but you can take a box cutter blade and just slice it down the middle. it's just foam for the guides.

Did you try calling Dobyns?

 

I just took delivery on two Dobyns rods about a week ago, and know exactly what you're talking about.

Their approach to tip-packaging is overkill. Making it worse, both rods were 'medium-light' blanks.

 

I wound up using a pair of small, sharp scissors to slice down the middle of the foam and tape.

I went slow, taking care not to contact the rod-tip, eventually pulling it off the rod-tip (horror show)

no I didn't , I tried loosing it and play till I got it out really slowly, I couldn't use anything sharp because it was covering tip and second one as well, thank goodness I came out, but I saw glow at the tip, I am think its a battle for another day LOL, guys all of you thanks for helping.
