Your Current Swim Jig Specific Rod ?

*Looking for a  swim jig specific rod for standard 1/4 oz. ~ 1/2 oz. swim jigs in and around average  moderate / sporadic cover in reservoirs ? ... Most swim jig experts opt for a M to MH / F rod with 80 / 20 bend that you can easily "pulse" with your wrist during the retrieve that is also light weight (don't want tennis elbow working a swim jig - so around 7' rod length or so that is light , well balanced and with a fairly short butt). Lastly , I believe you should be able to find such a specific swim jig rod for under $200 without breaking the bank ... Your recommendations ?

I currently use an ALX Enox bmj. It’s been my favorite so far. I used to use a dobyns champion 734 and really enjoyed that rod for moving baits. A Loomis 843 is also a good choice. I fish my swimjigs mostly around shoreline cover... isolated stumps, overhanging branches, bushes, etc. These rods allow me enough tip to skip my baits and also allow the fish the engulf the bait without me pulling the bait out of its mouth.

A BPS 7' MH fast tip Carbonlite 2.0.  Works great.

I use a Megabass Orochi XX Diablo for my swim jigs. Great rod but a little more pricey than the $200 you mentioned.

Another MegaBass Orochi XX Diablo Spec R user here.   I also use it for spinnerbaits, deep cranks, chatterbaits.......Great rod.

Dobyns 734c Champ? the Classic swim jig rod...

I throw most of my lighter swim jigs on a falcon Cara head turner. However I throw heavier jigs into cover using either a Kistler Helium 73 heavy or Shimano Zodias 72 heavy. Typically I prefer the 1/4 or 3/8 oz jigs though.

7' St. croix Premier. Probably 20 years old but it still does fine.

I dont have a SPECIFIC rod just for swim jigs, but I can stand on both sides of the arguement either go with what you would use for a spinner bait rod, or a jig/worm rod.

*Thank you for the replies - upon further review it may prove difficult to have just ONE swim jig specific rod (depending on weight of the swim jig , how much cover is present , line choice , etc.) ?

I'm not so sure you can't use just one.  I use mine for open water, weed edges, deep, shallow, today I was ripping it through weeds which I do quite often too.

Loomis 843c MBR, Curado K 6 speed. 30lb braid.

I've used the St. Croix Bass X in Medium Heavy Fast and the Dobyns Fury 734c. The Fury feels like a natural for this technique.
