*For  shaky head jig users with soft plastics - they usually come in either Black or Green Pumpkin jig head colors : Do you prefer a Black , Green Pumpkin OR use both color Black and Green Pumpkin  shaky head jig colors ? ... Please explain the reason for your choice - Thanks in advance !

I buy and use both myself, use the black on dark and light colored plastics and the GP on the light colored one's. Does it matter? Probably not, but it seems to keep my OCD from kicking in   

I want them to match up with the bait, but the shakey head is facing down, often in mud, sand,

vegetation or rocks.  I don't think the fish can see the head, but if they do, i doubt they care

either way.

 

I use 3 different styles of shaky heads.  I make my own and color them by head size black 1/8, green 1/4, brown 3/8.  That way there is no guessing as to what I am picking out of the shaky head box. 

I believe 98% of the time is does not matter with regards to shakyheads and other diminutive sized jig heads, but to make it easy, black matches everything.

 

I have noticed a difference with swimbait or grub jigheads with baitfish painted heads and eyes, vs plain colored heads though.

I wonder if water color makes any difference ? Clear water reservoirs I fish sure love green pumpkin color soft plastic worms but if the water is stained or if its overcast then Junebug comes into play for soft plastic worms where black jig heads may be a better match .

Everything goes with black ?

Don’t make them myself, but the color coding is a good idea!

I use so many different hook sizes 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 that the color code simplifies my selection.

I color my Ned heads yellow for 1/16, blue for 3/32 and red for 1/8. With such small differences in head size, it is easier to pick out the weight I want with color coding.

I paint all mine black because I can buy bulk flat black powder paint for cheap from Harbor Freight.
