this couple weeks I had a fried from Japan visited me and I got new disease from him, Called BFS fishing specially for trout and panfish(ive seen 16lb carp was caught on same set up). 

so first going to show you this YouTube video, thats the set up I got and waiting to arrive here.

 

 

 

once here, I am going to hit the road, trout fishing in streams in morning and bass fishing in night. I am very exited about this and going to update you guys. Please let me know any suggestion you have.

That guy is a master, I do really want his rod. He can cast old Abu with push button release fluently. That is true definition of BFS Baitcaster reel for. I follow him on both IG and YouTube.

It was really hard to find exactly his rod, I have friend in Japan and he look all day and he found two in one store but the year 2020, the rod in video year 2018 end that color and they start dark maroons color for casting set up.

the rod was 98,615 JPY the most expensive in their line of rods.

Luckily I didn’t know even I know I don’t think I can afford it lol.

When I said truly BFS I mean cast fluently and accuracy.

A lot of BFS guys nowadays just concentrate on lightest lure and longest distance in open water. I’m not sure why, spend 3-400 for a BFS reel, then upgrade spool another 100-200 just to be able to cast trout magnet.

Thats the disease I was talking about, haha... Anyways in my case I wasn't able to find the spool since everything is sold out, so I keep everything original.

you can have same set up with only around $100 and as I hear, they are really good and will do the job.

UPDATE; The seller in Japan was scammer, And I force to buy only rod I can find which it was MG-56MLC, same power and action, only 6" longer.

BFS trout fishing, no finer drug out there.  I took to it in a big way earlier this year.  I sold off a lot of unused gear and hopped on the BFS train.  Trout fishing has always been my love as my state is blessed with a multitude of great trout streams, many of them world class blue ribbon streams.  The fly fishermen give a sideways look when they see me out there with a baitcaster, like I'm some sort of demon spawn.  "You won't find any bass in this stretch of the river."  I'm here for trout brother.

One of these day I hope to get my bfs out for trout fishing, lol. 
Just like others, I started BFS because the excuse off “I hate spinning reel” too much problem, windknot, line twisted and no accuracy. I was to the point I have about 6 BFS setups altogether, not expensive more like Pixy with Ray’s spool of that kind. Late last year I had left frozen shoulder for a few months and forced me to use more Spinning, end up now I have 4-6 spinnings just for panfish. As of now I use spinning as my main setup and only use BFS just to “SHOW OFF” a few times a year. I already sold my Alphas air and will continue to sell some off to fund more spinning setups for both bass and panfish.

I have three BFS reels, an Alphas CT 7.2 with RCS shallow spool, Alphas CT 6.3, and a Revo ALC BF7.  Initially, I was going to take a dip into the Pixy pool but saw that Amazon Japan was selling the Alphas CT reels for a similar price of an excellent condition used Pixy.  The Revo I also got really cheap, something like $140.  I did have a Daiwa Air Stream Custom but sold it recently.  Not because I didn't enjoy it, it was a fantastic reel but it wasn't as versatile as the others due to the odd spool size (31mm).  It was too much of a one trick pony for my uses.

 

For my rods, I have a Major Craft Troutino 4'10" UL, Tsurinoya Dragon 5' UL, Kuying Teton 6'6" L, and a Lamiglas X11 7' L.  This gives me a lot of options.  For fishing small creeks, I like to use the shorter rods since they're easier to maneuver when you're neck deep in the spinach.  For the larger mainstreams, I like to use the longer rods since I can pick up distance and have more backbone to fight the bigger browns and rainbows I'll probably encounter.  Next week Monday I'm going to try my hand at BFS fishing steelhead.  I'm going to run the factory spool in my Alphas CT 7.2, throw it on the Lamiglas, and fish the Boardman River here in Northern Michigan.  

Guys I book some room in Kernville, I am going whole week at kern river for BFS trout fishing at day and bass fishing at lake Isabell at night, thats going to be crazy and joyful weekend.

I love BFS, and I love trout fishing with BFS. My current setup is a Daiwa T3 1016 with a custom spool. Used to have a different cheap reel, but I upgraded. The rod is a 6' fast action light powered rod that I built myself. Here are some photos of the setup and some fish. The current combo is at the the top of the first picture, the T3 with blue accents - it can cast the snap-bean crankbait consistently without backlash.

Pretty cool.

I catch muskies on fly rods...trout on a baitcaster would be a cool contrast.

Just taught it would be the place to share this catch.

That gear wouldn't hold up to the fish in my creeks.

Dang! Not only huge, but a really pretty fish as well. I think I need to get out on some better water! Assuming these are Lake Ontario fish?

Yes, south shore, near Rochester.  Every creek connected to the lake has fish.

Thanks, it is my favorite as well, I copy that from one Japanese in the linked video that I started the topic.

same reel and rod, I just did my line of choice and I am so glad, I feel very comfortable with it.

There's a blogger in NY who focuses on and also sells JDM rods just for trout.  

A good place to review what rod and reel models may be out there.
