Many of the bodies of water I fish are foothill lakes with little vegetation and a lot of rocky banks. The water most often has high visibility. Will a swim jig work in these situations?

I've done okay running them through brush and laydowns especially in the spring. Bumping cover is important. A little color to the water improves the bite- but I feel like it works well in any situation where either you or the fish can't quite commit to a spinnerbait...

No, a rocky environment works very well, too.

Are you talking about rip rap banks with some type of vegetation?

I use them in the James River here in Missouri. It is almost all rock. They work great

Rip rap, boulders or just a rocky bottom,

Swim jigs are one of my most successful baits.  I use them in all types of water as far as vegetation and clarity.  I tend to use them more around vegetation, especially if I can't get a chatterbait or underspin through it.  But then again, and chatterbait and underspin are both pretty much swim jigs. 

 

They work fine with or without vegetation.

They work everywhere for me.

Vegetation is bass attracting cover, so it makes sense that a swim jig will catch more bass around vegetation.  Every lure is more successful when fished where the bass are... location, location, location.

I use them all the time around rock and wood with great success.

Agreed. Swim jigs don't need vegetation to be successful but they do need bass. ?

I have had them work on the Tittabawassee which is all logs and rocks
