Berkley Maxscent Really Work?

Featured Replies

I was perusing through tackle ad's and saw one for The General Maxscent from Berkley. I know these have been around for a couple of years at least and I wondered if they really work any better than a senko or a dinger or it's overhyped?

I don't know about overhyped, but we tested and reviewed them and they work.  The General sinks faster than a senko.  They don't really have the same texture as most soft plastics, so I consider them a different bait altogether - think Gulp! that doesn't dry up in a heartbeat.

I’m not gonna put it to a test or comparison with others, but Berkley soft plastics have always worked well for me. I use the heck out of the MaxScent Hit Worms. I believe it is a good product.

Looking at the success of the flat worm and flatnose minnow (which aren't even new designs, there's many similar looking baits out there), the maxscent stuff has something special behind it that makes it work.

Disregarding the scent, the general looks like a good bait. I've never used it l but it gets a lot of love from members here. I saw an underwater video of it on a wacky rig on Youtube, and it has a good wobble. The same cannot be said for most other senko knockoffs. I'd use it. If you wanna see its action check out these videos:

22:55 here.

It definitely works and works well, it's not magic but when the bite is tough i tend to do much better with a Maxscent meaty chunk as a jig trailer than any other, especially when deadsticking.

Didn't care for the Generals but the King Tails work well for me.

Yup, they work quite well.  They're in my tournament kit, if that tells you anything.

Ditto

I started using them almost exclusively now as a stand-alone bait.
I’ll only use what’s left of the Senko’s as a follow up until they’re gone.

I am telling you my personal feedback, they are working for sure and since I found out, I would buy them first if I have option. So don't think twice about them :)
