Anyone use Sunline Shooter Defier Nylon Mono? Not the Armilo but the expensive stuff. What are your opinions of it, and what all can it be used for?

Never heard of it until you posted the name.  Let me know what you think

and I might pick up a spool. I really like the Defier, so maybe this is something

extra special!

I use Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo Nylon for topwater.

I like it for that.

I have not used the green Defier Nylon.

However the $$ is about the same given the yds per spool.

I have tried both and like both.   Regular Defier is softer and Armilo a little stiffer but tougher, like FC.  I use regular Defier for crankbaits and Armilo for some bigger topwater and swimbaits.  They are both the best mono's I have ever used and also longer lasting.

   I've never seen either one for sale, but one salesman told me that the Defier (green) is soft enough to be used on spinning reels effectively. Have you found that to be true?          jj

When you compare properties Armillo has higher yield point, knot strength and abrasion resistance. I started with 25 on Armillo for swimbaits and stayed with it for 11 lb.

I have never used it on spinning gear.  So I can't say for sure how it will be.  I have only used 13lb so far on two baitcasters.  I can say I have used it for two full seasons and it's still good.  Most mono I have used is done in about month or two. 

I like the green better. It casts alot better and yes handles good and is fine on spinning reels. Armillo is ok if you need more abrasion resistance and not as much distance, never had knot strength issues with either.

I use the Defier (the green one) it is a copoly line. I use it for topwater & crankbaits. It has good knot strength & easy to manage. I have never a problem with line. I have not used the Armilo so I can not compare.

Durability, how long using Armilo before it needs to be changed out?

The Nylon line is subject to breaking down from heat over 105 degrees and like any line nicks and abrasion, but not from higher forcing pulling like FC is. I had the 25 lb on the swimbait for 3 years, never needed to change it.
