If the eye is bent, so you can snell the hook and keep it straight, then that's what I do.  Otherwise, I don't mess with it.  

No. I did it for a couple of seasons then went back to a palomar. No difference. If anything a palomar is more reliable and better for hookups. I don't buy into the whole hook 'kicking up' theory. Sure it's a neat trick in your hands but really doubt it helps in practice.
