exposed hook

We talking a top hook here or screwlock hook like an Owner Beast?   I LOVE these baits!

If going the jighead route why not just buy a swimbait body which was designed to fish on jigs? Your paying a premium for a full body style swimbait and using it in a manner it isn't designed for and I know they ain't cheap. If you do rig them on a jighead you'll probably find they won't last long due to it's split belly and not having much plastic for the hook to bite into, especially if you trim the head back to make the jig "blend" into the body. Jighead/body swimbaits are what I tie on when I want to slow roll or stroke them deeper than the full bodied weedless styles which shine around shallow vegetation and cover. All that being said I like the owner and the kalins saltwater bullet style jigheads, the eye placement stabilizes the head and gives the tail a little more thump.

Check out the stuff Scottsboro Tackle offers.  I think you’ll find some good options

I use the 3/4oz Scottsboro recon head and warbaits 3/4oz weedless in 6/0 for the freestyle with good success.  I definitely trim some nose off for the recon, I think a touch less for the warbaits.  I have less time with the warbaits, but i think I get a little more head waggle with it.

I use the vmc swimbait jig heads for paddle tails. I may like them better then the revenge ones. I haven’t tried the magdraft.

Interesting idea.

I might be imagining things, but the magdraft almost seems to wiggle at the shoulders.  It’s a full body wiggle.  Won’t a hook shank down the middle limit that?

To me the warbaits weedless seems to keep the same waggle as an owner beast rig.  I'm probably wrong as I've never directly compared them, but it's the closest I've found.  Certain times of year if I can't have it run 6-8' deep at decent speed or 15-20' crawling, I won't get bit so this opens up more opportunities for me.
