I can imagine - I know what fighting a 2#-3# on my Procyon 701LFS is like. A 7#er would really test your skill on a Light rod.

I know most bass fisherman up here know its a better chance of getting a near record SB than LM. 8lb even is the record and the next one could come pretty much anywhere in the state. I'd rather have a crazed jumping, strong SB on my rod than any other fish. They are what keep me out there casting.......you never know when ?

The Smallies are our true type of saltwater fighting fish. Hard fighters with no deaths from Lactic Acid  buildup on 4# lines & lures.  They are a fantastic fish. They thrive in any size pond or creek of water. I have never seen die offs of them.  In any type of waters.

Only problem is all mine are switching to none daylight feeding patterns. Loads of them traveling with baitfish schools all day. When the bait fish go into the weeds. So do they. The baitfish are feeding in 15 to 30' of water. Close to the bottom after sunrise. Then sunlight drives their food into the weeds.  Game over about 8 to 9 am.  I FEAR those night shift mosquitos.

One of my best buddies that I've known for 20 years is actually friends with Troy...guess they have known each other since middle school. Troy lives about 40 miles north of me. Pretty cool.

Also the SD largemouth record was broken last year but the previous record was caught 15 minutes from my house.
