Something strange occurred to me earlier...

I got home from fishing around 9ish tonight...got me a giant 9in largemouth! But hey at least I didn't skunk..ol deadly nedly doing it again. Anyway I'm putting stuff away and as I'm looking thru my rod racks I realize I don't have a single rod with a jig tied on. Then it dawns on me...I don't think I've thrown a jig all year. I've thrown a chatterbait and swim jig...but no form of finesse, flipping or dragging jig. WTH? So I tied on a finesse ball head jig for Friday. Sorry for the weird post...just felt like I had to tell somebody I've been wasting my life but I'm gonna right this ship.

Edit: I remembered that I threw a jig a few trips back in April...caught fish..then put it up for 4 months. That's even worse then not throwing it at all.

never me!  I refuse to leave my house without a dedicated jig rod

I don't keep one tied on my jig rod, but I have thrown one this year, just not a favorite bait here in Fl.

If that happened to me, I look at it as proof that I'd been kidnapped by aliens and my thoughts had been altered.  What else is wrong with your life, other than not having a jig tied on?   They aliens are wily, and they can mess with you in many unexpected ways.   I find that I forget stuff from time to time - fishing related stuff and otherwise, and I'm finding it easy to believe that aliens are messing with my thoughts.    I like that answer better than the notion that I'm getting older and historically, old folks forget stuff from time to time... . .

Always fish a jig here, that and a wacky rig seem to save the day sometimes when the fish aren't biting well.

I really don’t need a dedicated rod for the jigs I throw but recently realized I’ve not thrown a Cabin Creek Spider Jig yet this year. These are great Smallie jigs for the river. Got turned on to them many many moons ago. Will this next time out.

Everyone's pulling for you, brother.  ?

I'm in the same boat, 8 months into the new year and haven't tossed a jig yet.  Always got one with me, just never sees the light of day

I've caught a few on jigs this year, but the bass don't seem to be biting jigs like they have in past years.  Hopefully with fall coming the jig bite will pick back up.

Same here, but I rarely throw a jig. I like swim jigs and LOVE chatterbaits, but true hopping and flipping jigs I rarely touch. I have been thinking I need to try out these two new finesse jigs I have and colored the skirts a little with spike it markers to match the trailer. They look amazing, why I dont throw them, dunno?

X2

Always have at least one jig rod on deck.  Usually two if you include a bladed jig.  Doesn't help much right now though.  August is slooooooooow fishing.

Jigs are effective here in the colder months.  Summer I’ve gone with other choices.

but in solidarity, I’ll toss one out this weekend.

I've done much of the same. I use jigs much more in spring and fall. They work just as good in hot weather though, and I should be throwing them also.

The only time a cut the jig off my pitching rod is when I want to retie it. I'm a true believer.
