I never had allergies as a kid. My doctor told me that it's common for folks to develop allergies when they get older.                                Now at 64, I have allergy problems each fall. It always comes on in mid October when the farmers are cutting all the crops here in my area. I'm getting plenty of sleep, but feel sluggish, have what feels like a bad head cold, sneezing, and some cough also.                                                               I never realized how bad these allergies can make you feel. My doctor didn't want to prescribe any medicine for this, which is good because I don't like taking too much stuff.                             He said to take Clariton, dress for the weather, and drink lots of water to stay well hydrated. I'm sure I'll be fine- I always am. But for two to three weeks every fall I feel rough.                     Anyone else have allergy problems? Do you take a prescription medicine or just let it run its course?  I'll be glad when it's over.

Hope you feel better @Mobasser

I seem to have a rather intense allergy to Hard Water.

Because everytime I'm anywhere near it, there is a rather severe reaction.

This includes but may not be limited to a massive nausea, violent full body shakes, head ache and an insatiable desire to fly south.

It's pretty bad.

Absolutely...I'm suffering from them..have my whole life. Gets really bad spring when stuff starts blooming and fall during harvest...which is going on right now. I take an over the counter med and this time of year its not enough to keep it at bay..actually going thru it right now.Wet cough...sore throat..sinus drainage and pressure.

So you can take one clariton/zertec a day, but you can stack Benedrylls on top of that, they make you tired but it pretty much knocks the allergies out completley for me, Id rather be a little tired while fishing than miserable, but thats just me. (P.S im not a doctor, far from it, so talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking recommendations from somebody on the internet)

I suffered badly. Grew in the southwest where the official shade tree is the fruitless mulberry.  It was crippling.  Move to here and it was something else that was d**n near year round.  I gave up and called my doc.  I dropped a few key words like “quality of life” “ affecting my sleep” and she sent me to another doctor.  We tried a prescription nasal spray.  It was profoundly life changing.  Took about 10 days to adjust to the dosage but it has stopped it cold.  100%.   Now I only have to blast my nose when I first feel the tickle.  It stopped my watery eyes and itchy throat too.

Pretty much the same for me, except it’s only two times a year. Late spring/early summer when the white pine up here let all their billions of tons of pollen loose, and again later in the summer when there’s haying going on.
The nasal spray I take pretty much makes it clear up 100%, and I only need to take it for several weeks a year, but it’s the best thing in the world for me.

This year has been brutal on my allergies as well. Hopefully we’ll be able to breathe through our noses soon.

I've suffered with allergies all of my life.  This year was one of the worst years I can remember.  I tried allergy shots back when I was younger, and the first one about did me in.  No more of that stuff.

I've also tried a lot of over the counter meds through the years.  Some of those dried my sinuses out too much and caused sinus infections. Now I pretty much stick to Claritin.  That seems to work the best for me.
