Tatsu

Featured Replies

I’m considering buying a 1000 yard spool of Seaguar Tatsu on eBay.  Is all Tatsu line a legitimate “Made in Japan” product or are there some knock-offs being sold?  Any problems with an eBay purchase?  Thanks for advice.

Tatsu is on sale at TW now...almost certainly legitimate, not knockoff....and shipping would be free

How much risk are you willing to take....for how many pennies 'saved'?

If it's up for auction, no way.   If you are getting it from a store like Departure Outdoors or ***, then yes but it's probably cheaper at TW right now.  If it's from over seas, like Malaysia or Thailand, not on your life.

Amazon has been good for Tatsu so far. I will only buy "ships from and sold by amazon", or one of the known fishing sellers. And pricing is consistently better than 30% off sales elsewhere.

I think @A-Jay had a questionable spool of Tatsu awhile back?

It's not hard from someone to wind a bunch of cheap line onto their empty Tatsu spool and say it's Tatsu and sell it online. Not something I'd be worried about coming from a trusted vendor.

I did make a post about that.

BUT, ended up there was NOTHING wrong with the line.

I got it right after Seaguar stopped smooth winding the bulk spools as it looked very different.

Sadly they didn't tell anyone in advance of the change,

so I had ever reason to believe I got duped.

I returned it but after contacting Seaguar, I found out I didn't need to.

I still buy Tatsu & InvisX quite confidently, usually From TW or Amazon,

who routinely has TW sale prices ALL Year.

This is pretty much spot on. There are a handful of reliable vendors that I've used who sell on on ebay (and sometimes other platforms), but I don't think any of them would ever put up something for auction either.

I placed an order with ALF.  30% discount.  Setting up for fishing clear Canadian smallmouth waters next year.
