Googan Dart soft plastics?

Featured Replies

As much as I can’t stand to watch these yahoos on YouTube, I can’t deny that their lures do produce. Well, the soft plastics do anyway as I have only tried one of their cranks and it was garbage from the word go ,but that’s another story.

Anyway the wife and I took the baby to bass pro yesterday to see the fish in the aquarium and I had some bday gift cards/funds to play with so I picked up some Sufix Braid and Sufix Siege mono for leaders and noticed the Googan Dart baits on an end cap. I have a dedicated setup for weightless stuff so I picked up a couple packs of the darts to try out in the spring.

Have y’all tried these?

pics are the two colors I got.

Never bought any of their stuff , but a friend gave me a white 2 inch grub looking thing that was a googan bait. I can’t remember if I caught a fish on it, but it had a nice shimmy at one end as it sank…

The one you have is obviously a fluke and should catch fish.

The darts work well. Not any better or worse than other flukes, but just as good. The durability of their soft plastics aren’t the greatest.

I am a big fan of their 10 inch mondo worms. Those were big producers for me this year and did better than other similar sized worms for some reason.

I don't think it matters too much who's name is on a fluke, anything that looks/acts like a fluke is in extreme danger of being bit.

Yeah I had a decent amount of luck on the mondo’s as well. Couple of 2#’s here and there.

As others said, a fluke is gonna get bit regardless of the name on the package. One thing I will say is that as much as I hate excess plastic waste, the clamshell packaging keeps the baits from getting bent and kinked like so many of the Zoom flukes do.

I like bandito bug.  Them not so much

To me it looks like any other soft jerkbait. Nothing special or revolutionary. Not knocking the googans, I say this about plenty others. The Yum Breakin Shad work great for the price if you are on a budget, but its still hard to beat the original Fluke and Super Fluke by Zoom. I dont care about scent or taste with these as it is more of a reaction bite. But..... Ive been known to buy into a new and improved lure that maybe has a slightly wider darting action, more erratic, more or less bouyant. So I guess maybe they could be better suited in certain situations.

I feel a ethical and moral obligation to protect fish from being pierced in the mouth by a byproduct of cringe...

Googan Squad started off with products made in Japan. The original company was sold in 2020 and I have no idea where the soft plastics are made today? I was OK with Japan.

If I don’t know I will not buy it.

A small titanium/stainless steel wood stove and a stainless steel cup can be an easy waterside solution to kinked flukes, depending on local laws etc, boil some water, dip the jacked up flukes for about 10-15 seconds, then leave them to cool in the proper shape.

For sure, boiling is an easy enough fix. But when I buy plastics I expect them to be ready to go out of the package. When half of the product needs fixing...there's a problem. Love Zoom's products, but I'm not on their payroll so why am I doing quality assurance on their stuff.....? ?

Oh I don't blame you for feeling that way, but I happen to live in a world where I have more time than money, and 15-20 minutes to sort out a few packs of flukes seems a small price to pay for the savings that Zoom and other budget flukes offer.

I like the Bandito Bugs and Kracken Craws. Not to hot on what I see in their worms. Do well with a couple of their cranks. Like walking on egg shells or glass on this site when you mention Googan. I don’t understand it or it’s over my head. Good luck with that bait.

I had one of their jerkbaits, I actually have to say it was not bad. I cached a few fish with it before a pike decided to keep it.

it had nice flash, suspended as it should, interesting color and casted ok. Its not the next Vision 110 but for the price I would say it was good. If megabass jerkbaits were not $25 or waters pike infested there would be no reason to purchase anything else, but since that is the case.. its not a bad option.

I’ll call a spade a spade I guess and I’ll share my opinion because it’s just that. My opinion. I’m not a fan boy or poster child for them or anyone else.

Not a big soft plastic jerkbait guy but I was impressed with the 6th Sense Flush last year. The packaging making sure the baits weren't kinked was nice. Seems like about half the flukes I get from Zoom are unusable they're so bent. Pretty decent durability also.

I don’t carry a tattoo for any brand. But admittedly I do have some favorites. Most of bigger names have something that catch my eye enough and it’s like “I can catch a fish on that”. A Local tackle shop started carrying their stuff. Some of their stuff. Was surprised because I thought they were only at DICK’S. I have to buy my own baits, don’t have season after season of freebies given to me. Experimenting is on my dime. Most of the time my experiment works. I’m not sure how big of a place they have in the market but seem to see it more and more on the professional tournament scale over the last year or so. But tv ran ads or mag ads I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Most post here seem to have YouTube attached to them.
