Hard Jerk Bait Suspend Profile Preference ?

Featured Replies

Seems to be a belief that a hard jerk bait should suspend or slightly fall nose down during late Fall through Winter . However , as the late Winter water temps begin to rise into Pre-Spawn , a preference for a slow rising nose up jerk bait profile emerges . What are your experiences , or what determines which suspend profile you select for suspending hard jerk baits late Fall through Winter into the Pre-Spawn (i.e. horizontal suspend , slow fall nose down or slow rise nose up profiles) ? Thanks ...

In really cold water, I like them level, and sinking ever so slightly, as the water warms, a slight nose up and suspending (yeah right) or rising ever so slightly.

No matter the time of year, I like them to rest horizontally. As for rising or falling, I prefer a slow fall in colder water. In warmer water (after spawn), I don't feel it really matters, because the pause is so short, I don't feel it matters.

I have heard people talk about this but honestly I have never noticed a difference, perhaps because I tend to move it a lot quicker as the water warms.

I am interested to hear everyone’s opinion though...will stay tuned in

I don't have a preference, and honestly don't know the position of the nose after I rip it.  I usually just tie on a couple of my favorites and see which one gets more bites.

 Don't matter.

I'm not sure where that belief comes from. Level or a slow sink is fine by me.  Nose up or down isn't going to matter.

Totally agree.

I like the one that the fish eat. Not sharply tail down is about the only kind I won't fish.

Suspending or sinking a little bit in late fall-winter- early spring.

Doesn’t matter the rest of the time.
