Guys I know you might have catch shads way more bigger than this, But it is the biggest shad I seen ever. Catch that on Norman Finesse Crank bait.

I keep that to use as catfish bait.

You should try fishing for American Shad.  I think they have runs on rivers like the Sacramento, out west.  A lot of the major East Coast rivers have them.  The buck shad average two or three pounds and the roe shad get up to 7 pounds.

That’s 20 lb largemouth bait

I was thinking to rig it for that for my next night fishing ?

That's a good sized one. Get a lot of them 12" up to 18" from the power plant lake. They'll be a couple pounds once they get that size.

Nice gizzard shad. I have caught them on lures as well. A lot of people say gizzard shad is one of the best baits you can use for catfish.

Even the mud/gizzard shad can get bigger than that on the east coast.

I used to gill net them with a buddy for catfish bait on the James near Dutch Gap outside of Richmond.

American shad and hickory shad, though...best fishery Richmond has to offer if you ask me, even if it's only seasonal.  I've found similar fun with ladyfish down here in Florida.
