This is what my Tatsu line looks like, after today's 3-hour fishing in dead-weeds-and-pollen-overrun dirty creek water.  Anyone has some good ways to clean it off? I tried to wipe it off with some wet paper towel. Not much difference after one try. 

 

 

Nothing new. Fishing in stained waters turns my fluro, and even my mono turns a bland green color. Doesn't hurt anything, just looks ugly imho.

Mine gets dirty in a hurry too. I tell myself that if they sold that line in a camo color they'd charge extra for it. A lot extra.  

 

I like camo line. I still use some Triple Fish brand mono that's camo. Then there's the distantly related TrikFish camo.

Here is some 15lb Tatsu that has been on this reel for two years.  It has been used for jigs and some bigger jerkbaits. I have fished some dark chocolate water and it has never been as stained as in the pic above.  I wonder if something in the water caused the resin to break down.  Some type of chemical maybe? I am sort of stunned by the pic.  On the other hand, I have had this staining with several types of mono I have used over the years, just never on Tatsu. 

 

 

Tatsu is now made with the same plastic ??   Why not ?

Which valkyrie is that?  

Water and fluorocarbon have very low but real chemical solubilities in each other. 

The color is caused by tannin water diffusing and reacting with the resin - the "breakdown" factor is not significant, though fluorocarbon is supposed to dissolve in water over long times.

The line is still fine on the performance side, and this has happened before to other fluoro lines, usually during the spring. I don't think manmade chemicals are involved, but mostly tons of pollen and floating weeds in the water.

It happens with mono as well. I have some clear mono that’s now green lol. Other than cosmetically it doesn’t seem to impact the integrity of the line.

7'1'' Heavy with spiral wrapped guides.  Just got it and only fished it for about 2 hours. Just a mind blowing rod though.

I was going to either gat that one or the MH of chatterbaits from the tackle trap but realized I don't throw them enough to justify a $450 rod.  They look and sound amazing though.  Shorter the handle and roll cast then lengthen it and bomb cast.  There is a big thread on another forum about these I have been reading.  Bait monkey almost got me.

It happens to any clear line when fishing in green or brownish water. I found the discoloring disappeared after fishing in clear water a few times. If that bothered you, might be a good time to flip the end of line out.

run a mr clean magic erase along the line and it’ll clean it up.

I wonder if it would wear off and weaken the line? It's known to scrape off paints and cause scratches on metal surface. I find it very effective for cleaning some cork handles; it seems to peel off the dirty surface of handles.

That is my past experience as well; it seems to get clearer after a few trips in clean water. I just wonder if there're any quicker ways to deal with it, as it does bother me a bit (just a bit). If not, eventually I'll just flip the line I guess.
