Seen baby coots eaten as well. That’s why you throw a loon/black whopper plopper down here in spring once you start seeing the babies.

I’m sure I’m going to be sorry for asking, but what the h..l is a baby coot?  I have a loon patterned whopper plopper but I thought it was supposed to mimic a baby loon?

This is a coot:

We're well familiar with them here...migration season Minnetonka is 'littered' with coot commotions (that's what a group of coots is called).

Coot: It's what's for breakfast.

Eric, yes it’s to mimic a baby loon but, it’ll also mimic just about any small bird that’s dark colored.
Here’s a baby coot.

Back when I was using big swimbaits often you had to watch for Osprey’s constantly. Trout swimbaits look real and fool Osprey’s that see them in the air after casting and swoop down 180 mph grabbing them midair and they don’t mis!

Had one steal an original custom painted DEPS 250 right off the back deck of the boat.

I had a T-rigged worm on the bottom of a clear 2 foot deep creek. A duck started to swim by and I watched him for a bit. Just as he passed over my worm he dove for it. I reacted quick and jerked the worm away.

Poor duck swam around for 30 seconds trying to spot the worm again then gave up. Was kinda cute. I can't remember which video it's in or I'd post it. Poor dude.

Haha! Ducks are pretty funny yet also stronger than they look. I’ve had a couple buddies catch one while fishing, and also my brother. Those were some interesting moments!

Found the video (starts at the duck). Looks like I saw the duck and yanked the bait just before he dove. probably why he saw it. I thought he'd get tangled in my line. He looks confused afterward.
