Wife is super bummed I ran past her to save my Megabass rod.  :)

just kidding. We both headed outdoors fast. Dog hot on our heels.  Cat was on her own.

all good.  It was scary as hell. I’ll never get used to it.

If you were in Louisiana people would call that amazing. But you're in California so they call that Tuesday ?

(I'm glad you're all safe)

Having lived in So. Cali for over 70 years, I've felt the havoc that mother nature can muster up, i.e. earth quakes. Unless I see my house start falling apart, I don't pay to much attention to em, guess we have been lucky so far, shoot, hope I didn't just jinx myself..lol

Fires, mud slides, earth quake’s, and 100+ temps!

And all we get are hurricanes, and bugs!

Time to move to the mountains ?

I was in the Bay Area in October 1989 when the big one hit during the World Series between the Giants and A's.  I was only 7 years old at the time but I still distinctly remember it.

I was watching cartoons with my 7 year old brother and he got hurled off the sofa to the floor.  They train you to go outside and get away from a building if you are able to, otherwise get under something sturdy.  We got outside.  My Father went to the kitchen and held the cupboards shut so the dishes wouldn't fly out and break.  LOL

When we got outside, I remember the tall curve-shaped light posts swaying back and forth like rubber bands.  This quake caused a lot of devastation in the area.  Our house only had minimal damage, as most homes there are one story by design.

We moved 2 years later.

Its part of life living along the San Andreas fault.  Fires and drought are probably a much bigger issue there at this time, although you never know when another major quake is coming.  Wherever you live, you should be fully aware of the natural disasters that could affect you.  Anyone that lives in the tropics or along the Gulf can experience hurricanes.  Been pretty quiet on that front this season so far.

We have lots of earthquakes in the mountains, how do you think they formed ? Haha

the funniest one I recall had it’s epicenter in the neighborhood I was living in. You could literally feel it rumble from one end of the house to the other. My roommate walked outside and looked up in the sky and said “it’s not even raining” hahahajah. He thought it was thunder

Just over 7 years ago I was on my way home from working a Saturday and stopped to hit the ATM. As I’m sitting there my truck starts rocking back and forth! I look at the trees and they’re still as can be, so I look around my truck to see if one of my friends were messing with me. My wife calls and says the house is shaking! I put two and two together and it was confirmed later in the day on the news. Michigan had an earthquake.

Craziest thing ever.

I was in bass pro yesterday and my wife grabbed my arm and her eyes were huge. I thought she lost her wallet or something. She says “did you feel that?” I had no clue what she was talking about. Then a few seconds later she said the same thing and sure enough there was a small earthquake with epicenter in gatlinburg

Quakes don't phase me anymore. I think you are safer in the house than running outside, depending. Windows can break and things can get thrown around in the house (as well as cars outside) but houses in Cali don't usually collapse.

It is actually rare that I feel a quake. Not sure if I'm used to it or just not very observant.

I was supposed to be at the World Series that day but couldn't go. Would have been a trip for sure.
