The most realistic glide bait?

Featured Replies

i have a lews super duty rod that throws between 3-10oz's and im looking to get into some bigger baits. I recently bought a big savage gear shine glide and was given by a friend the smaller one. I like the way the small one runs but i didnt like the big one. I know its usually the opposite but the smaller one looked more realistic. i returned it and i dont plan on buying any more, i will just be throwing the small one when it comes to shine glide. I understand i may have gotten a crappy one but im not willing to buy another, to try out. What baits have the most realistic glides and are consistent with manufacturing ? Price is not an issue, i just want to know which baits are the most realistic out there

If price not an issue. Get a Hinkle Shad.

Hinkles are great but aftermarket is pretty much your only shot. Deps 250 has an excellent glide and is readily available. Baitsanity Explorer is also a really nice option and around $100 "cheaper" than the 250.

When you say, realistic, are you talking about the looks, or the swimming action ?

I choose mine on the swimming action. I've caught 6+lb bass on a drab bone colored glide bait. One that I like and it  doesn't cost an arm and a leg, is the Storm Arashi, and the river to sea s-waver.

Hands down the best glide bait I’ve ever used was a DS customs floating glide bait. You can get it to work in super super shallow water. I’ve used a Deps 175, savage gear and spro glides. Never really liked them until the Ds glide. In one month of fishing it. The first month I’ve owned it. I got a 8lbs 2 ounce, 7lb 5 ounce, 7lbs 1 ounce 5lbs 11 ounce 5lb even and a bunch of fish under 5.   I had the best bass fishing I’ve ever had in my 32 years of fishing Massachusetts on this bait:

What is a realistic glide, anyways? I don't see any fish swimming like that in the water.

6.5 inch and 8 inch. I love the 8 inch. These are floating glides.  After you cast they’ll sit for a couple seconds before slowly rising.   When you start the retrieve, the bait will stay at the depth. So you can fish it over shallow weed beds or just in super shallow water. You can also fish it on top. Like a  spook.
