Would love to hear thoughts on how these compare.   I have 3 swimbait rods

one rated to 20oz, one rated to 8oz, and the other is rated to 4oz.

Which reel would be best suited for each rod?  all rods are goin fro be used for swimbaits of various sizes.

The 21 jdm zillion hd does not seem to be a “big bait” reel to me. I have it on a tequila bacarac and throw up to 3.5oz.  The US version is different I think, but I don’t know enough in specific ways.

I get it.  I think I just told you what I think the lightest one is, jdm zillion hd.

What lure weighs 20oz that is used for LGM Bass?

I fish baits well into the 3oz range, 6"+ hard swimbaits, A-Rigs on a Zillion HD.   It's fantastic in that role on a 7'9 Alpha Angler Wide Glide.     Ergos are killer, lighter than most similar big bait setups, holds enough 17-20lb line for my needs.   If anything it's maybe too nice of a reel for big baits.   Too me a Tat 300 is the best/most expensive reel I wanted for this role, but then the Zillion HD just did it's magic.

Now a question for you, how many times do you buy something because of all these "XXY top tier vs ZVY top tier" threads?

Thank you!

if there was a limit regarding the lure weight in oz for each reel, what would you estimate that upper limit to be for each one??

My $0.02: I'd throw 4 oz with any of them. If I wanted to throw 4 oz a lot, I'd go with a 300 size reel. I'd throw 8 oz with the Tranx 300, but up to 2 oz is probably the sweet spot for the Zillion and Antares and up to 4 oz for the Tranx 300. If you want to throw much more than that regularly, you're probably not in their ideal wheelhouse.

I wouldn't throw 20 oz with any of those reels. Even if I wanted to throw 8 oz a lot, I would go with a 400 size reel.

If I wanted to throw swimbaits approaching 20 oz, I'd be eating raw liver, injecting steroids, and spending a lot of time each day in the weight room.

I have and used two of them,

TranX300 more heavy duty the Antares MD DC. But you didnt mention what you asking this question. What you going to cast? Because if you need casting distance the Antares MD is the king.
