That was a bone chilling read. Remarkable bravery by both.

Wise words to live by in grizzly country: no one can outrun a grizzly, but you can out climb one if a nearby tree has some low limbs. Black bears are good climbers, mature grizzlies aren't: their long fore claws are made for digging, not climbing.
