UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Comes in from the seams I'm thinking. May also be getting thru some of my add on I screwed in gonna resilicon everything and hope I don't need to use them to often. I've also had the boat for 2 years and never drained it so maybe some got in from snow over the winter.

Just found this thread and read all pages.... Took a while lol.

I have a original bass hunter. My parents got it for me in 1998 for a graduation/eagle scout rank gift. I love this boat. Stored outside since 98 in crappy IL winter and have not had a single issue with it.

I have seen a few times people asking about the motorguide Bulldog trolling motor. I bought one the week they were released and absolutely love it. It is a transom mount but I ran it on bow for a long time without issues. Then I found info online about how to mod it for bow mount and it works even better. Great little tm for these pond hoppers.

I have the Bulldog too and also love it. MIne came configured for bow mount and with foot pedal. I thought they all came that way.

Its actually set up for transom mount from the factory. I used it a long time on the bow without changing it.

Designed to be used on the transom and then the foot pedal goes in front of you. That's why if you read the reviews people complain the pedal cable isn't long enough.

If you pull the cover off and adjust it you get a little better control out of it. Not hard at all. Takes about 10 or 15 minutes.

I sometimes fish out of a jon boat and the wind spins/pushes these boats around really bad. How do these pontoon type rigs fare in the wind, better or worse?

Depends on your jon boat. I have a flat bottom 1542 jon boat and one of these mini pontoon boats as well. The pontoon boat is so small that the resistance from my crank bait can steer the boat slowly. Tough winds and the boat really gets moving. My jon boat is not like that at all, but I don't know how yours handles.

If anything a drift sock should help that issue out for you

The cross-section of boat is smaller with my BassBaby than with my prior full-size boats, and I feel like the wind is less of an issue. It also helps tremendously that I use a bow mount trolling motor with a foot control as I can easily (and continually if needed) make adjustments to compensate for the wind blowing. After awhile I don't even notice it as the adjustments are automatic.

Just bought myself a brand new Raider 10E I paired it with a Minn Kota DuraMax 45. I had it out once so far, I thought it was kind of "tippy" with 2 people. I bought a 7" pedestal to raise the seat (I'm 6'3") 7" was too much as I was on my tip toes, this could have added to that tippy feeling. I'm having a 4" riser custom made. I'll be taking it out alone this weekend weather permitting.

Can anyone tell me how much room is in the "cockpit" of the Pelican Bass Raider 10e? Length for sure, width would be nice to know.

Also, does anyone know if Academy puts these on sale and if so, when? I can buy one there for $550, which is a good price, Dick's sells it for $700, but a sale never hurts!

I just put in a floor and carpet. Inside dimensions are 103"X 26". I bought mine at Dick's on sale for $599 plus another 10% off for applying for a Dick's credit card. Not bad.

Tommy X, I have the same exact setup as you, same boat and trolling motor. I don't understand why you're having problems with with a 7" riser. I have a 7" riser on an upgraded fully padded seat and I'm 2" shorter than you. I have no problem reaching the bare floor of my 10E. I'm not saying that your seat is not to high for you, after all you should know, I just can't figure out why.

I don't understand that either. 7inch riser here, 6'2" and I'm flat footed and knees still up a little. You have a super thick padded seat or something?

IDK, it's definitely too high for me I'm all torso I guess. If I sit up against the backrest the seat digs into my thighs. With the 4" I should be flat footed on the floor, knees up slightly. It will be much more comfortable

Hello all...great thread (read a lot of it the last couple of days).  You guys are an impressive bunch!  Anyway, I plan on buying a Pelican Bass Raider 10E from Academy sports for my wife this week.  She has medical issues and can't move around that much while fishing and I have not noticed that anyone has put a bow mounted foot controlled trolling motor on their Pelican Bass Raider.  Thoughts?

You guys ever seen one of these Pelicans taken apart? I have... MINE!!!

I don't have a 10E and I was tired of not being able to night fish without lights, so I install some. As well as other things.

Interesting! I thought the whole cavity would be filled with foam. What other things did you add?? I appreciate the insight as to the innards of the Pelican. I suppose that there is some wood/high density plastic to reinforce the transom/bow mounts but the pictures don't show it.  You do realize that Attwood makes battery operated navigation lights in both standard and LED models, right?   :wink2: They come with both bow and transom mounts and take all of about 30 seconds to put them on when needed. Thanks for the pics, you generated some ideas for mine... :bushy-browed:

In my newspaper, I see that Academy has the 10e on sale for $500 instead of the regular $550. Wondering... do they put these on sale at a lower price or is this a typical price? Thinking that for Father's Day, some store might have a good sale on these. Or wait for fall.... wonder if they have better prices after the summer fishing season.

Yup...got Academy's new weekly mail ad today and the 10E Raider is on sale for 499.99 thru June 13th.

Makes me want a fleet of em but one'll do me, i reckon.
