Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?

Featured Replies

Yes. Single handedly most awesome thing you can put on there. There are days I wouldn't even be able to fish without it. Storm blew in. 32 mph winds. Solid as a rock.

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Thanks J. T. Maybe you could post a photo of it on your Raider?

I've tried. It tells me the photo is too big.

So the time has come. I just picked up a Gheenoe and I have too many boats. My garage is getting crowded and the Bass Raider is being neglected so I will be finding a new home for her soon. She was a great first boat and I will miss her. If anyone is in SW Florida and interested hit me up because she will be going on craigslist after the weekend.

Is that the anchor you have on yours or a rudder on the transom?

It is the rudder. I have it on a hinge so it kicks up if it hits anything and for when I beach it.

How do you make a picture small enough to post?

You can just upload the picture to facebook or photobucket then right click on the pic and then click copy image url. then in your post you click the little picture symbol to upload an image and paste the url.

I am going to buy a Sun dolphin sportsman 8footer.  I am wanting to mount a 40lb trolling motor in the front adn then mount my transducer on the trolling motor.  Are there any problems i might encounter with putting the motor up there?  How about mounting the transducer on the trolling motor??

I have an 8ft dolphin with a 55 on the front with no problems. I mounted my transducer on the bottom of my rudder on the rear and ran the wire on the top of the rub rail with some clips from Home Depot and it works like a champ with my motor up front was worried about banging up the transducer to much. I can post some pics tonight if you'd like.

I have the same boat and have a 55lb mounted on the bow - since they didn't put a steal mounting plate on the bow like they did in the stern I took two small pieces of sheet metal and mounted them and then mount the TM to that.  Works great - also have a bigfoot switch on the pilewood floor I put in - let's me control it but I still have to steer with my hand.  Through out this thread I have posted pictures if you can sort through the pages and find them - if not hit me up on IM and I can share them - I have done lots of mods to my boat.

Here are some photos of some of what I've done with my Dolphin.  Included a pic of the clips I used to run my transducer wire and my new tackle storage.

Proud to say that I am in the process of purchasing a used bass raider 10E it doesnt have seats but nonetheless it is a decently looking boat and im getting a 36lbs TM and a bass raider 10E for $250 anybody got any ideas for what I can use for seats right now

I mounted a pedestal to plywood and bought a seat at walmart

Here's a photo of my rig at the lake.post-50086-0-71583400-1429757186_thumb.j

Minnow,

Can you please post a close up picture of how you have attached these quick clips?

I tried to use something similar with double-sided sticky tape but it came off after a season or two. I think the composition of my BassBaby hull did not allow the tape to adhere very well. I am considering using a screw but prefer to avoid putting screws into it.

The clips have a peel and stick back. You have to lightly heat the plastic where you stick it and they adhere nicely.

I have the Bass Hunter - nearly exactly as the Pelican - had a small crack in the right rear corner.   Sanded it down with 80 grit, patched it with marine epoxy then one coat of J.B.Weld, then sprayed with a couple coats of rubberized paint - good as new.    It's great for smaller bodies of water, shoreline fishing on small / mid size lakes, I've caught hundreds and hundreds of fish off this rig - highly recommend as a back up watercraft.     Fits perfectly in the back of my truck also.        I have hauled it on my riding mower trailer once or twice, great little boat for those quick half-day outings, very enjoyable indeed.

Glad to see others using these.

I doubt anyone has any information but I figure I can ask anyway:

Has anyone bought a 10E in the past year from Academy? If so do you know when they were on sale? I remember seeing the 8 go on sale last year late May and have seen posts of others talking about the 10E being on sale last year as well. I want to buy a new 10E but don't want to buy one and see it go on sale 2 days later and be out $100.00.

Also has anyone tried fishing with 3 people on the 10E? I have eyeballed the seat brackets and it seems big enough to fit 3 seats even if its not rated for 3 people. If so how uncomfortable was it? The three adults average 145lbs, so fairly small individuals.

Any and all information would be appreciated.

I have a 10 ft. Pond Prowler & when my sister came from out of state with her daughters (ages 10 & 7), we fished 3 people out of it (total weight about 430 lbs).  The adults were in the seats and a kid would sit in the middle on a tackle box.  I didn't go to the problem of making a 3rd seat because it was a once a year type deal.  A third full seat might be a little cramped, you may need to get creative with a bucket or something.

I've got a 10e that's still a work in progress. I'm in the Pocono Mountains in PA. I use this little rig and a Wilderness Series kayak for fishing the lakes and Delaware River.

Alh3939 i can't remember when the 10 went on sale but i do know that if you buy something at academy and it goes on sale within a certain time they'll refund the difference. You'll have to call and ask how long. They may even tell you when they'll go on sale.

Ya I talked with a sales associate at Academy and he asked a manager who said they would refund if it was within a certain time frame. They were fairly non-committal in what that time frame was so it had me concerned.
