I need another reel. BFS?

Featured Replies

Thanks to the latest sale thread I’ve got a 7 3 TFO ML on the way. I’m not sure it’s a true BFS rod, but it’ll be the lightest casting rod I have. Initially I’m leaning towards the Curado BFS. Any other recommendations?

That’s an option. I think I have an extra Fuego CT around here.

That's exactly what I did.

Honestly, on a ML, you may want to look at a Shimano MGL or Daiwa SV reel.  An Alphas SV TW 800S or Curado 70 MGL would be right at home.  Both have braking systems conducive to lighter baits.  While getting a different spool for your Fuego is an option, it isn't going to perform its best with the factory magnet assembly which is far too strong for such a light spool.  With those spools, the braking will have a narrow range of adjustment compared to the factory spool.

Thanks for that. I have a 2nd SLX MGL out for delivery today. I’d have no problem getting a 3rd one. I almost bought a Curado MGL instead. Maybe this time I will.

They really are. But I’m not a fan of the T-wing.

I have an ML baitcasting rod and had an Alphas SV on it and was disappointed with casting distance with light lures. I traded it in towards a Curado BFS reel and like it waaaaay better. I get much more effortless distance and have not had any backlash issues at all (the reason I originally had the SV spool).

TFO

I have an Alphas SV with ceramic bearings and an added drag clicker on a Dobyns UL 7'4" rod. Thing casts a mile but in typical ceramic fashion sounds like a freight train coming through...
