How many, how big, and why?

First off, I really miss bank fishing the thousands of lagoons back in my old stomping grounds of Hilton Head island and Bluffton, SC.

My hotel is on Lake Oconee (19,000 acres) so most of my fishing was there this year. But I recently got a house on Lake Sinclair (15,000 acres) so that will be my primary lake.

But this year I also fished Lanier, West Point Lake, Keowee, and Hartwell.

Next year I have plan to try Clarks Hill for the first time and I'm tentatively planning to enter the BASS kayak tournament on Lake Murray.

  • I fish several bodies of water. Strangely, they all have the same name. I am willing to travel some distance to do so. This is why. A-Jay

I fish Erie a very large body of water because it flat out produces quality smallmouth. I also fish the big water Florida lakes & the St John river system for largemouth & Lake Baccarac in Mex

  • I do all my fishing out in the Florida everglades, which is thousands of square miles, most of which is only accessible by kayak…or airboat. I’ve tried other places in Florida but few give me outcomes

Life long Joisey guy, fish most of the lakes, reservoirs and rivers here  and some up in NY state.

Also have this rather large body of water off the shore here, though not fishing that as much as I used to.

Been restricted to  kayak fishing now for 20 years after having various boats from 12' to 23'.

Cracked me up when I went up to the Adirondacks and saw the the ponds up there were bigger than most of the lakes here 😀

Learn to fish jigs in rocky areas in the lakes you fish. Read my horizontal jigging article.

Thank you sir, may try some of this tactic this weekend. I’ve never fished a jig with the reel handle unless I was swimming one thru grass

I have two lakes that I fish regularly.  One is a little over 50 acres, and one is about 3,000 acres.  Then there are 4 more that I fish several times each year that run between those two sizes.  And then there are probably another 30-50 lakes that I'll hit up once or twice a decade or so in all various sizes.  I like a healthy mix of familiarity and surprise.
