New MBR843C

Featured Replies

I didn't need it but when Alpster was selling his G Loomis MBR843C GLX for a really really great deal I couldn't resist. THANKYOU Alpster! Sooo this is half of my Christmas present from the baitmonkey!

The other half is gonna be a new reel for it. I know I'm going to want to use this most of the time. Since I have a crankbait setup and a finesse setup this will be used for applications other than those.

If you were in my shoes what reel would you get????? Since this is such a fine rod price is of minor concern. I want to do the entitre setup justice. I am thinking about some of the lighter weight reels but that is not cast in stone. Seeking opinions to help in my decision........

Just think of how light the 50 MG would be on that GLX rod!  That would be my first recommendation for you.  They fish like a higher $ reel than they are.  A TD-Z might feel right on it as well.  For that matter even the 100 size curado or citica might feel perfect.   Have fun shopping!

I'd check out the new Revo's ....... but you cant really argue with the Mg50 like flechero mentioned.

I just purchased a Calais 201A and it now has permanent home on my MBR783C.  It is just amazing.  I could not be happier.

If money is no object then the Calais might be a perfect fit.  My second choice would be a Curado.

In any case, I would take your rod to the place where you plan to purchase your reel and take a couple for a test drive.  See what feels right to you and go from there.

Keep buying, Carl. Aren't we sharing a boat at Fork?

Well, I have a Calais, but I didn't put it on my MBR. I like round reels just fine and the CTE200GT feels better (to me) on my GLX MBR 844C.

I have an MBR783C and the TDZ fits great!  :)

My buddy has a Chronarch 50 that fits just as well-I think you would be happy with that setup.

I also have a Citica 200 that I put on it just to see how it felt-the reel simply felt too big and heavy.  The MBR's are so light they deserve to be paired up with a lightweight reel!

Yup, and between us with the new stuff we're both buying we'll be the "Fishin Bling Brothers" (I like that name almost as much as "Two Mooks in a Boat")

BTW....thanks for the input guys......I think I'm gonna remain a member of the Shimano Posse and go for the Cronarch MG50 for the light weight.......The new Daiwa Steez has me wondering but its pretty pricey comapred to the Cronarch

Can't go wrong with Flechero's advice. I have a MBR844C with a 50MG mounted and it feels like air. I fish t-rig with this setup and can cast a mile if needed. If you are a Dawai kind of guy, try the new Steez. It would probably be the same feel.

Chronarch Mg or Daiwa Alphas Type F, with the Type F you get TDZ feel and weight but at 100 dollars less.

But if you 've got the dough, why not endulge yourself ? Steez baby.  :)

Check out the best kept secret in bass fishing, the Ardent XS. The 50 mg is a great reel also...............Al

I have my GLX MBR783 mated to a TD-Z.

A match made in heaven.
