‘16 Megabass Destroyer “Go-Ten”

Featured Replies

Soooooooo…… I ended up buying this end of last season just because I found it new on a Japan site for $200 shipped.  Brand new just didn’t have the Megabass rod sleeve.    Really nice rod.  The craftsmanship is just great.   Anyways it’s the “Go-Ten” model (5’10, 1/4 - 3/4oz).  I know it’s a niche rod for close quarters fishing jigs.   I used it once when I got it. (Still has plastic on the cork.  LoL)  Tried a dark sleeper but I’ll be damned if I can catch anything in those dark sleepers.    Anyways I was just curious what techniques others would use this for. I did get a suggestion of pop max which I haven’t tried yet.

Nice looking rod. I would use it for smallmouth creek fishing with topwater and softplastic.

As far as the Dark Sleeper goes, I really haven't caught anything on it when I fish it like a swimbait on a straight retrieve. I kill it when I fish like a jig, either popping it or dragging it with a pause. Be warned,  it's a rock magnet.

Thanks for the suggestion.   I’ll give that a whirl.   There is a small creek around the corner from me that feeds into the river that contains mainly smallies.   I’ll have to take a hike once bass opens up here.

I tried the dark sleeper as a swimbait and as a jig.   The rivers here are loaded with gobies so maybe I’m not working it too life like :)      Rock magnet it sure is.   I’ve hooked into tons of rocks.  LoL

What a beauty.

If you want you can send it to me. I'll test it out over spring and summer and let you know...😎

Sweet.  I'd have bought that B as well.  I like shorty rods 👍

That’s why it intrigued me.   The short rod.   Seemed like it would be something special.     And it was $200cdn shipped.   (Import fees was around $16cdn )So around $145-150 USD.   Hard to pass up on that price.
